The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region
Puivert is located in the south of France, in the area known as the Aude Region, in the foothills of the Pyrenees. This area is steeped in natural beauty and history.
It is ideal for those seeking the thrills of an activity holiday, in the summer the Aude is a paradise for all seasonal activities and in the winter there are a variety of ski stations in the Pyrenees to chose’ from. The nearest being Camurac just 30 minutes away with 15 runs.
Puivert is home to one of the famous Cathar Castles with many others locally in the area. La Cite in Carcassonne, the largest medieval fort in Europe is only a short drive away as are many other Chateaux.
The house is well situated for short excursions into the Pyrenees mountains, the beaches of the Mediterranean, the vineyards of the Limoux, the markets at Mirepoix, Couiza, Espereza and Quillan or the ski fields of Andorra with it’s duty free shopping.
Carcassonne / Puivert area
The village of Puivert has an excellent boulangerie together with a mini- supermarket offering everything that you may require. There is also a café / bar / tabac, restaurants and post office. Twice weekly the charcuterie and primeur visit the market square and in the summer Puivert hosts a regular Wednesday evening market. The market is where locals sell their produce, meet and have that little drink in the beautiful summer evening sun. Just further a field, is the local village of Chalabre which has its own regular market, restaurants, shops, supermarkets, banks, chemists, bars, doctors and petrol station.
Other local towns include Quillan, Espereza, Miropoix and Lavalanet all offering a full range of services.
How to get there
By Air
There are a number airports fairly close to Puivert, the closest being Carcassonne which is 45 mins drive, then Perpignan which is 60 mins drive, then Toulouse, a 90 mins drive and finally Girona, a 2 1/2 hrs drive. By Road
France has one of the best motorway networks in Europe and travel by road could not be easier, travel takes about 12 hours from the channel ports with suitable stops on route. What a wonderful way to see France as you travel down.

Further details indoors: The house offers the following accommodation on the upper floor, entrance hall, lounge, dining room, kitchen, 3 bedrooms, bathroom and separate toilet. On the lower floor it offers 1 bedroom, sitting room, shower room with W.C. summer kitchen / utility room together with garage and store rooms / drying room.
The lounge offers comfortable modern sofas to relax on following that typical holiday day, be it activity or just laying on the beach. The dining room with its views out over open countryside and to Puivert Chateau has a large dining table with seating for eight people. Just right for that lazy evening meal.
There are four bedrooms, the main bedroom on the upper floor and the bedroom on the lower floor both have a king size double bed. The further two bedrooms both have twin single beds in each. All beds have duvets and pillows. In the morning just push open the shutters and take in the view of the Pyrenees from your bed, what more could you ask for. Bed linen, together with house and beach towels are available at a nominal cost for laundry.

Further details outdoors: The large south / west facing garden and orchard, which is fully enclosed, has its own purpose built barbeque and eating area. Just right for those garden meals in the sun.

There is an additional charge of 10 euro per person per week for Laundry, paid locally to the property manager. Please note Central Heating is included in the price during the winter months (Nov to March).
Conditions
A non refundable deposit of 30% of the full payment is required to secure a reservation at the time of booking.
The balance of the full payment is payable 10 weeks prior to check-in at which time detailed instructions will be sent on how to find the property and arrival arrangements.
Additionally a fully refundable Damages Bond of £ 150.00 will be required with the final payment; this can be in the form of a cheque which would be refunded if no claim is made for damages and /or excesive cleaning.
In all events the owners accept no responsibility for injury or accidents occurring within the boundaries of the property.
The owners recommend that you take out your own travel insurance.
