Chateau Lazerre sits at the edge of a very pretty circular hilltop village some 20km west of Carcassonne. It enjoys the most stunning views of the Aude vineyards and countryside stretching to the snow capped Pyrenees.
With the Med and ski slopes each within an hour we are ideally placed for year round holidays. Le Chateau retains all the flavour of its noble past but with up to date comforts. A welcome hamper on arrival is included in the rental price.

This is the centre of Cathar country, history abounds....castles to visit and views that astonish! Yet we are only a short trip to the beaches and delightful ports of the Mediterranean or the ski slopes and wonderful walks of the Pyrenees.
Carcassonne, the Unesco world heritage site, is nearby as is the Canal du Midi. Wine buffs will savour local wines that are enjoying a much enhanced reputation. We have a local expert who will escort you to various domaines. Castelnaudary, a 10 minute drive, is the renowned home of casoulet. Golf is at Carcassonne and horse-riding and fishing are within minutes of the chateau.
Carcassonne / Lasserre-de-Prouille area
Carcassonne airport (20 mins) has budget flights from various UK centres, Toulouse (50 mins) is an international airport and Beziers (60 mins) now has Ryanair. Perpignan, Montpelier and Nimes airports are all within striking distance. The nearest mainline SNCF is Carcassonne.

Further details indoors: The accommodation is arranged over three floors reached by the most magnificent stone and iron staircase. The hall and landings are very grand, indeed rooms in their own right, with polished wood panelling and original tiles. The ground floor enjoys a spacious fully equipped kitchen/larder with 4 oven Aga and views over the courtyard as well as a salon in which to relax adjoined to the dining room that seats at 16+. There is also a library with desk looking out across the fully enclosed gardens and pool and a cloakroom. There is satellite television, stereo, Ipod docking station and full wifi access.
On the first floor there are three large bedrooms and two bathrooms, one en-suite with the Maitres bedroom. On the top floor there are 3 further bedrooms, a playroom and a shower room. Please note that every room has two full height windows with views.
Further details outdoors: The front of the house opens onto a courtyard with ample parking, glorious views, and an ancient vine to sit under on hot evenings. Adjacent is the beautiful barn of winemaker and farmer Mon Martin. To the rear is the fully enclosed and private garden with the salt filtration pool, shady trees, recliners, bbq and dining table.
