The Hebrides/Skye region
The Scottish highlands are particularily beautiful with Mountains, lochs, lush green glens and waterfalls.
The clan history of the highlands is very interesting, there are battle sites along the route through the highlands.
Carbost Beag is in an area called Minginish on the western side of Skye this area is a green fertile area of Skye where the local houses and land are called crofts these were originally given to the new occupants that inhabited Skye in the 1920 s to enable them to be self sufficient.
The settlers and local people reared livestock and farmed these small areas which were usually around 11 acres. Minginish has a very varied landscape from its coastal beeches and rocky outcrops, picturesque sea water Lochs to the fertile green hills where sheep and cattle roam freely in the lower pastures gradually rising up to the rugged Red and Black Cuillin Mountain ranges.
