This modern apartment is spacious( 75m2) and is the middle floor of " Casa Giovannina" which you see on the main photo, it has its own private entrance from the road ( no steps, therefore also easy for elderly people or prams for children ) , conveniently situated in the village of Carate Urio at walking distance to small supermarket, bus and boatstop, restaurant, pizzeria, postoffice and bank. In fact car hire is not essential . Como-city at 9km ( can be reached by bus or boat ).
It consists of a living room with dining and kitchen corner , one double bedroom , one room with two bunkbeds, bathroom with bath and shower. Small terrace and balcony. Internet access.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area region
Lake Como is one of the prettiest lakes of Northern Italy and is favoured with a temperate climate, spring starts in april , july is the hottest month ( 30C) and has a colourfull autumm up to end october. Winters are bright, sunny and around 5-10 degrees.
Lake como offers a holiday for swimmers, sailors and windsurfers, for hikers and for mountain bikers, for a cultural holiday ( cathedrals, churches, museums), but is also alovely place for a relaxed holiday ,sipping your cappuccino on a small village square , strolling along the trendy shops of Como and Menaggio, admiring the views over lake and mountains.
You visit lake Como also for relax , by taking the tourist boat, criscrossing the lake and visit the famous Villas Carlotta, Melzi, Balbianello and the pearl of the lake : Bellagio and Varenna , the ever changing scenery is breathtaking.
Swiss Lugano ( Casino) , Como-city for its weekly market, etc not to miss the charming valleys all around with small hamlets to discover.

The Carate Urio area
Carate Urio is a typical como lake village built against the steep slopes surrounding the lake. Lake Como was once a gletcher and it the deepest lake of Europe. The slopes falling steeply into the lake explain also why you do not have large and long sandy beaches, but short green strips of land where people sunbath and dive into the clean water.
Carate Urio is a cluster of houses , with a still " italian" atmosphere, the old medieval centre is worth to be explored , you will be amazed, how many narrow walking paths lead to the lake or up the mountain. Take the boat and look at the village from the water and try to find " Casa Giovannina " in between all the other pink-yellow coloured houses!
Panoramic footpaths connect Carate Urio with Moltrasio , Cernobbio and Laglio , passing through meadows and woods, Carate has it own "mineral water fountain "where the locals go with their empty bottles and a chat with the neighbours and for those who like to reach the "top" of the mountain, your excursion starts at your doorstep
The nearby town of Laglio (2km) provides all the " essentials" while Cernobbio and Como offer more extensive shopping and nightlife.
