About the home

A lovely, quiet luxurious apartment in a villa overlooking the lake, surrounded by 4,000 mq. of beautiful, elegant gardens and woodland. The apartment is on the ground floor and has three bedrooms, sleeping up to 5 people; a double bedroom, a twin-bedded room and a single bedroom.

There are two bathrooms, a large living room with dining area and kitchen. Enjoy the beautiful patio with seating area with barbecue area. There is private access down the drive and a parking place. The villa is located in a very quiet and exclusive location just 9 km from Como, 50km from Milan, and 25km from Lugano area.

The Lombardy / Lake Como Area region

Lake Como with its tiny villages stacked perilously on rocky slopes overlooking the lake, Lake Como offers an incredibly and wide variety of vegetation and landscape that makes it one of the most scenic spots in all of Italy. Visitors will be happily immersed in a natural environment of great beauty and exceptional conservation.

Shoppers will love Como. Among the local specialties are exclusive Italian fashion lines, leather goods, artwork, and other fine crafts produced by local artisans.

What to do
Venturing north, on the roads from Como, are the towns of Cernobbio, home to the famous Villa d’Este, a 15th-century villa built by Pellegrini Tibaldi. It’s now a prestigious hotel. Carate Urio, Moltrasio, Argegno, Torno and Lezzeno are small fishing villages that have retained their charm. Further up, we reach the heart of Como, where the Bellagio Peninsula dominates, with the promontory of Menaggio and the gorgeous Varenna.

The landscape is breathtaking. Clear blue skies and snow capped mountains make for exceptional scenery. Many of the activities are suitable in the winter months too, as long you are wrapped up. The area is also very convenient for skiing in either Italy or Switzerland.

The Carate Urio area

Carate Urio is situated on the western shore of Lake Como, the commune consists of the two distinct centres of Urio and Carate Lario, which were administratively united in 1927. Urio, rich with residential villas, is situated in a beautiful panoramic position on a slope facing the lake.

An impressive castle once stood here and its remains are incorporated in the eighteenth century villa which is the present headquarters of the International Centre of Studies of Opus Dei. Carate Lario, in a less panoramic position, has not been affected much by urbanisation and has a remarkable layout with old houses and stepped lanes. Both of the centres have ancient origins: Gallic tombs and the remains of Roman civilisation have been found in the area.

THINGS TO SEE
Church of SS. Quirico e Giulitta
Originally a Romanesque construction, the parish church dedicated to St Quirico and St Giulitta was built in 1865. The bell tower (12th century) from the original building is still standing and has two levels of mullioned windows with two lights with arches above them.

Church of S. Marta
This Romanesque church, which dates back to the eleventh or twelfth centuries, has for the most part been conserved. It is in a panoramic position and has a number of very old frescoes.

Our one & two weekly service charges are inclusive of final cleaning, bed linen, towels, heating, utilities & air-conditioning (if installed in the holiday property). Please note that signal and connectivity is not guaranteed and may depend on the strength of the signal in your rental property.

Making a Booking

To make a confirmed booking, you will be asked to fill in our online booking form and pay a 30% deposit by wire transfer or credit card. The remaining holiday balance will then be due 6 weeks before arrival.
