This 19th Century magnificent Villa, once the home of the Barons Monti Della Corte very close to the main square of Anacapri. The elegant white Villa is surrounded by a terraced garden with an acquamarine blue pool. This luxury Villa rental having been recently restored respecting the best of its antique features with all the modern facilities, all the en-suite rooms are different and tastefully furnished by expert hands of its current owner who is an antiquarian and an expert in nineteenth century painting and furnishings. A 16th-century Turkmen fireplace dominates the dining room along with an Indian wedding fountain commissioned by a 19th-century maharaja. Other grand touches: an eighteenth century marble fountain, Venetian glass mosaic tile and original nineteenth century majolica floors.There is a fabulous art collection which includes an over-sized Neapolitan sea battle scene by the 18th-century master painter Leonardo Coccorante and a study for Mathieu-Meusnier?s ?Death of Lais?, the final version of which can be seen in the Tuileries Gardens in Paris.Villa Il Barone is a private sanctuary, hidden behind closed gates and beyond extensive gardens. It?s a world apart from the lively town of Anacapri, which lies just outside the front gate. With the proximity of museums and galleries, there is no shortage of interesting activities.
