The Tuscany region

Tuscany (Italian: Toscana, pronounced [to'ska?na]) is a region in central Italy with an area of about 23,000 square kilometres (8,900 sq mi) and a population of about 3.8 million inhabitants. The regional capital is Florence (Firenze).

Tuscany is known for its landscapes, traditions, history, artistic legacy and its permanent influence on high culture. It is regarded as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance and has been home to many figures influential in the history of art and science. As a result, the region boasts museums (such as the Uffizi, the Pitti Palace). Tuscany is famous for its wines, including the well-known Chianti, Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, Morellino di Scansano and Brunello di Montalcino and more.

Caprese Michelangelo

Villa Liliana is located in the town of Caprese Michelangelo (birthplace of artist Michelangelo Buonarroti) in the province of Arezzo. It is there that you will find Michelangelo's home which is now a museum set in the hilltop fortification. Caprese is also famed for its chestnut cultivation and harvest which culminates in a large festival over two weekends in October. Anghiari (16km) is an imposing medieval walled town with narrow winding streets, lovely piazzas and commanding views of the Upper Tiber Valley. The town, once fought over by Florence and Milan, is now a prime spot for antique shops. The town also regularly hosts antique and artisan fairs and a costumed festival to celebrate Battle of Anghiari at the end of June. San Sepolcro (25 km) narrow medieval streets and piazzas contain a striking collection of 13th century towers and 16th century palazzos together with today's mainstays – numerous pizzerias, tavernas and bars. It is the birthplace of famed artist Piero della Francesco and the local town museum is host to several of his works. In a little over an hours drive you can be sunbathing and taking a swim in the Adriatic Coast or exploring the uncomperable city of Florence.
