The Western Cape region
Noordhoek is one of Cape Town's best kept secrets - set in the foothills of Table Mountain, below the famous Chapman’s Peak Drive. Noordhoek Beach Villa is a short walk from 7kms of pristine beach which is popular for surfing, walking, kite-surfing and horse riding. The beach is West facing so every evening offers a spectacular sunset best watched from the upstairs lounge and large deck which offers panoramic views of the beach, mountain and valley.
Restaurants and Shopping A short walk from the house (400 m) takes you to The Red Herring Trading Centre, a complex with various quaint shops tucked between the indigenous Milkwood trees, where you will find:
the locally renowned pub Skebanga’s with rocking live music on Sundays Red Herring restaurant (offering great take away pizzas) art gallery and an arts and crafts centre a small chocolate shop and cake factory called ‘chocolate mousse’ a wonderful local hairdresser and a health and beauty centre and gift shop. and last but not least: Coco bean café, a lovely family run restaurant offering fantastic breakfast and health lunches under the shady trees.
A few minutes drive away the Noordhoek Farm Village is remounted for offering a relaxed family friendly atmosphere. The village is an increasingly trendy complex of traditional white Cape Dutch style homes which thatched roofs which are converted into a wonderful selection of restaurants, cafe's, deli, wine cellars, art and gift shops, health and beauty centre and information centre, all centred around a green lawn with bandstand.
Cafe Roux offers exceptional cuisine with a large terrace where you can often enjoy live music, great for breakfast or lunch. Don’t miss ‘the toad in the village’, which is a new pub and restaurant owned by the famous Springbok rugby player Bobby Skinstadt.
For fine dining in a casual setting, we highly recommend the wonderful cuisine of award winning chef Franck Dangereux, who owns and runs The Foodbarn restaurant in the farm village. We are very proud to have this internationally renowned restaurant situated in our little village. As Time Magazine boasts: "The... best value fine dining on the continent, if not anywhere... No longer dangereux to your wallet, but lethal to the notion that haute cuisine has to be haughty.", which recently drew the attention of Leonardi Di Caprio.
The Foodbarn has a separate deli that oozes fresh farm style food throughout the day where you can also enjoy delicious breakfast and lunches Longbeach shopping mall is a 5 minute drive away and has everything you need – banks with foreign exchange facilities, grocery stores, restaurants, cinema, clothing retailers, video store, surf shop and more.
Monkey Valley Resort offers an African continental feel for an afternoon drink on the deck overlooking Noordhoek beach.
Cape Point Route The house is just a 15 minute drive from the famous Boulders Beach with their resident penguins, en route to the Cape Point Nature Reserve where you can see the Atlantic and Indian Oceans converge in dramatic scenery. Follow the coast road through the historic naval port of Simon's Town, St James, the quaint fishermen's village of Kalk Bay and Muizenberg. All of the coastal villages surrounding Noordhoek have their own unique character, restaurants and beaches. The area is full of character, diversity and natural beauty which makes the area a wonderful place to explore. There are 18 beautiful beaches to choose from in the direct area.
