Cape Town / Central Cape Town area
Table Mountain looms large above the city centre, while Robben Island, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens and Cape Point are all easily accessible. Nearby in the Western Cape are the Winelands (45 mins drive) and the Garden Route, not to mention some new safari destinations starting to rival those of the Kruger Park (in the semi-desert area that surrounds Cape Town known as the Karoo - which is wonderful if you like empty spaces).
Oh and dont forget to go to fabulous Paternoster on the West Coast (instead of Hermanus.. its much nicer!) Cape Town's climate is mainly hot, even winter daytime temperatures dont get much below 15 degrees. But it can rain a bit! Cape Town has become one of the world’s leading city destinations. And Adderley Terraces are situated right in the heart of the gentrified Victorian and art deco centre of the city. The apartment is walking distance from the Waterfront, parliament and the conference centre. And it literally looks down from high up on the 14th floor right down Long Street where there are a plethora of bars and restaurants and shops. Personal favourite: Riboville, which is in the converted vault of the old Standard Bank building!
Coincidentally I publish Cape Town's premier free tourist guide (a free copy of which you will receive when you land at the airport).
Please feel free to ask me anything about holidaying in South Africa.
How to get there
The Owl's Nest at highly-desireable Adderley Teraces is a luxurious loft apartment situated right in the heart of Cape Town's CBD, easily reached (25 mins) from Cape Town International Airport. British Airways, South African Airways and Virgin all fly daily to Cape Town. There is only a one hour time diference so there is no jet lag, and the overnight flight is very straighforward.
All the international car hire firms are available at the airport, though a local firm Scenic Car hire can sometimes offer better rates (and they will meet you at the airport) So try www.sceniccarhire.com A taxi from the airport costs R200 (approx 13 gbp)
Dont forget you can arrive by one of the last remaing post ships from UK, not many people do it but it is amazing and stops off in St Helena (as did Napoleon) to drop off the post! www.rms-st-helena.com You can walk to Adderley Terraces from the docking point in the harbour!
