The Western Cape region

“Cape Point" and "Cape of Good Hope"

The “Cape of Good Hope” is the southwesternmost point of the continent of Africa and is situated only meters from “the peak of the cape”

From “Constantia Cottages” you can undertake wonderful day trips. One of those targets Cape Point and leads around the whole table mountain range. It starts in Muizenberg, follows along False Bay up to the entrance to Cape Point Natural Park. From there additional 13 km to the end of the peninsula. The way back follows the route via Scarborough and Misty Cliffs to Nordhoek, from there via the dream road of Chapman's Peak to Hout Bay, over the hills to Llandudno, along the “12 apostles” to Camps Bay, then via the gold mile of Clifton, Bantry and Seapoint to Cape Town, along Table Mountain to Newlands, Bishops Court and Kirstenbosch back to Constantia. A stunning day trip with a lot of sightseeing, points of interest as well as inviting restaurants along the way.

Cape Town

Imagine leafy tree-lined avenues, flourishing vineyards and elegant private residences – that's Constantia, a ideal place for a serene and relaxed holiday in Cape Town. The Constantia Valley is the birthplace of South Africa's wine farming industry and boasts five fabulous wine estates actively cultivating internationally acclaimed and award winning wines. Bordered by magnificent Cape Town mountains, Constantia is blessed with excellent soils, moderate temperatures, good rainfall and cool sea breezes, making this area ideal for growing.

This wonderful Cape Town suburb includes the world-class Steenberg Golf Estate. Not to forget the Constantia craft market, local horse-riding and mountain-biking trails, and the up-market Constantia Village Shopping Centre which offers a wonderful variety of boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants. Short drives to either the False Bay coastline with its charming historical suburbs or to the beaches of Hout Bay and Llandudno.

Also within short distance of Constantia is the world-famous Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens where one can spend hours wandering through the splendor of countless different botanical displays, such as the Fragrance Garden, the Dell, the Cycad Amphitheatre, Matthew's Rockery and the Fynbos Walk. Alternatively summer picnics on the rolling green lawns gazing at the breathtaking mountain backdrop listening to the music of one of Kirstenbosch's many sunset concerts is a fine way to spend your holiday in Cape Town.
