Home description
4 star self catering accommodation situated right on Long Beach. LXIX is a simply stunning thatched house on Long Beach in Kommetjie, opposite the famous Sunset Reef. It has a huge 64 square metre living room with a double storey vaulted ceiling, four bedrooms and a small cottage
If you're planning a stay in Cape Town, there are two things you have to decide - where to stay and what to do. As for all the things you can do in Cape Town, we’ve been coming here on holiday for over a decade, and love the place so much we've emigrated, so we look forward to telling you all about them!
The first is easy - Kommetjie has become the hottest location in Cape Town in recent years due to its charm and unspoilt beauty - something which has become increasingly hard to find elsewhere.
As the house is on the top of a dune, you can sit in the shade and enjoy the stunning views from the large terrace, relax around the pool or step straight onto the beach.
Alternatively watch the whales, seals, kitesurfers and surfers from the huge elevated deck, from where you can see Hout Bay, Chapmans Peak and Table Mountain, or entertain on the large patio with its built in braai (BBQ).

The Western Cape region
Kommetjie has become the hottest location in Cape Town in recent years due to its charm and unspoilt beauty -something which has become increasingly hard to find elsewhere.
Kommetjie is surrounded by majestic mountains and is wonderfully rural and unspoiled. Although it is still conveniently close to Cape Town, Kommetjie is a fishing village and the atmosphere is one of peaceful isolation. Unlike Camps Bay, there is a feeling of space, as the village looks towards the mountain, rather than being perched on the side of it. You can see the Cable Car Station on the top of Table Mountain, the Sentinel, below which some of the biggest waves in the world are ridden at Dungeons, Hout Bay and Chapmans Peak, as well as the mountains of Silvermine and The Kom. At night, the beams of light from Slangkop Lighthouse can be seen travelling across the water and the beach to the house as the 41 meter high cast iron light helps passing ships navigate this famous stretch of coastline.
The white sandy beach is perfect for walks, sunbathing, surfing and snorkelling. The beauty and un-crowded nature of the beach has made it “the” place to get married, with several weddings taking place right in front of the house.
For visitors who don't know the Cape, it is very hard to choose which area to stay in, so here is a brief summary of the best spots starting with Blouberg in the North.
Blouberg has the classic views of Table Mountain, and wonderful long beaches which are popular with Kitesurfers as the wind howls in the summer. There has been a huge amount of development in the area in the last few years, so staying in Blouberg is a bit like living in a city on the beach. Unfortunately much of the property has been bought for investment and is unoccupied, so staying close to the beach can be a bit like living in a ghost town.
Further south is the City of Cape Town, which includes the areas of Green Point and Sea Point - great to visit, but if you want a relaxing holiday you wouldn't want to stay in the City itself.
Moving round the coast, you come to Camps Bay - traditionally the most exclusive part of Cape Town, with modern houses crammed onto the cliffside. The beach is small and beautiful, but don't expect to find a spot for your towel easily! If you like the beaches in Ibiza, this is the spot for you.
Heading south you come to Hout Bay, which has a lovely beach and some interesting shops. Sadly the attractiveness of living in Hout Bay has been badly affected in recent years by the large squatter camp there, and from a tourism point of view, it can take a while to get over the mountain or through the city if you plan to visit other areas of the cape.
Having driven along Chapmans Peak Drive with its stunning views you come to Nordhoek, which is set back from the beach, and then Kommetjie.
On the other side of the peninsular is the quaint Simons Town, with its large Naval Base, and the rather tired villages of Fish Hoek and Muizenberg.

How to get there
Directions to Get There: As you leave the airport follow the signs for the N2 to Cape Town. You will join the N2 Motorway, and after a few miles pass the twin towers of the Power Station on the Right. As you reach Table Mountain the motorway splits.
Keep in the Left Lane and take the M3 (Rhodes Drive) to Muizenberg. Do not bear Right to Cape Town City Centre. You will join the M3 Motorway, and shortly afterwards pass Cape Town University on the Right. Stay on the M3 until it ends - through all the Robots (traffic lights), past Constantia and Tokai. The M3 ends at a T junction, where you turn Right, signposted M42 OuKaapseweg & Fish Hoek. After 500 yards, bear Left up the mountain, signposted M64 Fish Hoek & Simons Town.
Follow the mountain pass over the mountain, and enjoy the stunning views across the Cape Flats and towards the back of Table Mountain. As you come down the mountain into Nordhoek, go through the first set of Robots. Take note of Long Beach Mall on the Right which is your local shopping centre. At the next Robots, turn Right signposted M65 Kommetjie. After a couple of miles you will come to some Robots with Imhoff Farm on the Right. Go straight on.
A mile further on take the first turning on the right into Wireless Road (look for the radio mast on the corner). Drive down Wireless Road, past Pelican Place on the Left. You will see a row of thatched houses on the Left Hand Side, with LXIX (69 Wireless Road) just before the Guest House and the Car Park.

Guestbook for LXIX
A wonderful family experience! Close enough to the sites in the Cape Peninsula area and yet secluded enough to allow a great degree of privacy. Our children loved the pool and parents enjoyed sunbathing on the deck. — Anonymous
The house was spotlessly clean & furnished/decorated to a very high standard. Everything you needed was provided even down to the little things like soap & beach towels etc. The house had a welcoming & homely feel to it (fresh flowers, information etc) making our stay even more enjoyable. We would love to visit again. — Lee Tozer, Vanuatu
Wonderful house with all the peace and quiet that we were looking for. Fabulous sea and mountain views. House is very well equipped and maintained. Highly recommended. — Anonymous
