Hout Bay is a central location from which to visit Cape Point (Cape of Good Hope) National Park, Cape Town, Table Mountain, Robben Island, the Winelands, Gordon's Bay, the Atlantic Seaboard and the Garden Route.
Cape Town / Hout Bay area
Hout Bay is a small town famous for its fishing and this is reflected in the number and variety of fish restaurants in the town. It is well served with a wide range of different types of cuisine in its restaurants and the local shopping is excellent. Being so close to Cape Town access to all the facilities there are only a short drive away. Within Hout Bay are several attractions for children and to the south lies Simons Town and its penguin colony and further south the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Point and the National Park. Whales are often seen in Hout Bay during the season (Sept-Dec) and a large seal colony can be visited by boat trip from the harbour.
