The Western Cape is the area most frequented in South Africa. It is very diverse in culture and offers a landscape that changes by the hour from the ocean to the winelands to the farm lands and to the desert, diverse in caves with ancient rock art. All these star studded attractions are within a very short driving distance from 1 to 3 hours. We are very blessed here in Cape Town to have both a West and East Coast that are very different in contrasts and engulfed by both the Atlantic and Indian Ocean. The climate is very Mediterranean with mild sunny winters and balmy summer temperatures with cool breezes and starry nights.
The Cape Town / Green Point area
Cape Town proudly represents the world renowned NEW 7th Wonder of the World, Table Mountain. The top of Table Mountain can be reached by cable car or by hiking up on one of the numerous trails. The views from the top of the mountain are unparallelled.
The Victoria and Alfred Waterfront is within a 10 minute safe walk. Here you can find designer shops interspersed with local craft, cinema's, the Two Oceans Aquarium, five-star hotels, live entertainment in the amphitheatre and a variety of restaurants and bars catering for every palate. It is also the gateway for ferries to Robben Island where former President Nelson Mandela spent 27 years in jail.
The new Cape Town Stadium which hosted a number of 2010 FIFA World Cup soccer games is diagonally across from The Legacy.
Cape Point is the southern-most tip of Africa and well-worth a visit.
The Bo-Kaap, home to the first Cape Malay slaves, is a 10 minute drive from the apartment and tours of the suburb gives an interesting insight into the early days of slavery in Cape Town.
Local tourism agencies provide tours to nearby game reserves offering the big 5 and shark cage diving on the East Coast.
A trip to Robben Island to visit the jail where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated during apartheid provides a chilling insight into the life of this international icon.
World class wine estates and vineyards are located within a 45 minute drive from the apartment.
Organic food and craft markets abound in the City and its suburbs.
Blue flag status beaches are also within easy reach.
Green Point and Cape Town central offer great nightlife, cafes and restaurants, all within walking distance from the apartment.
Join the many locals who take an early morning or late afternoon stroll on the Promenade, a 10 minute walk from the apartment.

The apartment we had at the Legacy building was superb. The attention and care we received from the owner, Graham, was amazing. He had flowers, breakfast food, nuts, sweets, milk, juice, muffins etc all ready for us when we came. The location was exceptional - a short walk to many places of interest like the waterfront and CBD, and the value for the money we paid was brilliant. Get in touch with Graham if you are going to stay in Cape Town - a real gem. |
