Villa | 5 bedrooms | sleeps 8
Known affectionately as the Playboy Mansion, this is the largest property in the exclusive Stonehurst Mountain Estate. Home to a number of high profile figures, the estate has become regarded as one of the most secure and desirable locations in Cape Town. The house enjoys the best position in the Estate, perched high up on Silvermine Mountain above Westlake Golf Course, with no properties above it, and enjoying spectacular views of Table Mountain to the North, Constantia and the wine farms to the North West, the Cape Flats to the North East and False Bay with sea views and the Kogelberg Mountains to the East.
All bedrooms are luxuriously appointed with en-suite bathrooms and views to die for. The living room is over 70m2 with a huge fireplace and a professional cinema. The stunning kitchen has English oak beams and an Aga stove, and the oak floor of the dining room is at the same level as the rimflow pool, with water lapping against the glass windows.
Several fountains create an air of tranquillity, and the outside braai area is perfectly designed with a huge fireplace, bar fridge and Belfast Sink. Inside there is a study with two computers and wireless internet access for those who need to keep abreast of work or want to look up a local restaurant and check the weather.
Downstairs is a huge entertainment area for those that want to relax. This includes a pool table, a table tennis table and a huge window looking into the swimming pool so you can watch the kids as they swim underwater. There is also another television room with a 36" TV, AV amplifier, Xbox and playstation. Finally, you enter the tranquillity of the jacuzzi room, with its own en-suite shower and changing room. Sitting in the jacuzzi, which is big enough for ten people, you can look across the lawn at table mountain and the vineyards during the day, and the lights of Constantia and beyond at night.
The estate benefits from a professional gym with every type of fitness machine, a long pool and a steam room, all of which you can use free of charge.
Many visitors to South Africa are concerned about security and personal safety. At Stonehurst you don't have to worry about setting alarms - as a gated development access to the estate is restricted, and a full complement of guards patrol the estate 24 hours a day.

Kitchen: The hand painted kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to prepare every type of meal, from something simple, to entertaining a dozen people for dinner. There is an English Aga stove, and a separate electric oven with gas hob. The work surfaces are Zimbabwean granite, and the huge island where you'll sit and enjoy the views over the pool is oak. Off the kitchen is a well equipped pantry, with a washing machine, dryer, and plenty of space for all that unsightly washing up when you have a party.
Home Cinema: Situated at one end of the living room, the home cinema will blow you away. Featuring a 3m wide electronic screen and an Epson full HD projector, it utilises the most powerful ceiling speakers in the world driven by the latest Pioneer AV amplifier to deliver memorable sporting events or earth shattering movies.
TV Room: If you would rather watch a normal television in a more cosy room, perhaps in front of a blazing log fire on a huge leather sofa, then the 55" LED 3D television and six B&W speakers in the TV room will keep you captivated.
Entertainment area: Play pool with your friends while watching people in the pool through the 50mm thick perspex window! Alternatively you can play table tennis, table football or if you want to keep the kids amused, there is an XBox, Playstation 3 and Playstation 2, as well as media streamers with a library of 15,000 songs and movies.
|Further details outdoors|
Outside the house is a large private garden with a lawn and sunken trampoline. The house is on the edge of the National Park, so you have the most beautiful, uninterrupted views of Silvermine Mountain, as well as the views of Table Mountain and False Bay.
The beach at Muizenberg is less than 10 minutes drive, and not only does it offer warm water (unlike Camps Bay on the Atlantic OCean) it is the best beach in Cape Town for surfing.
As you can get onto the freeway in just a couple of minutes, the house is perfectly located to visit the wine district of Stellenbosch and Franschoek, Cape Point, or Cape Town city centre, which is 20 minutes away.
The house comes with a daily maid service during weekdays, and we will be there to greet you and make sure you know how everything works.
If you have young children who can't swim, please remember that the pool is not fenced off, so you will need to either keep the doors to the pool area closed, or keep a constant eye on them.
The Western Cape region
Voted by Trip Advisor as the number one holiday destination in the world, South Africa blends incredible beauty with life's little luxuries. The Western Cape is such a perfect destination for a holiday, because you can take in breathtaking surroundings such as the Table Mountain National Park, Cape Point or the Winelands, and still be close to all the action in the Cape Town metropolis.
Constantia has always been regarded as one of the most desirable places to stay in Cape Town, and for good reason. Situated close enough to the city centre to be easily reached by taxi or car, yet far enough away to be safe and quiet, the area benefits from some of the best shopping in Cape Town, and is close to the beaches of the warmer Indian Ocean. The area is also ideally situated in the centre of all the best activities in Cape Town, such as Cape Point, the Winelands, Table Mountain, Cavendish and Century City for shopping, Ratanga Junction theme park, the Waterfront and of course the beaches. It also means you're not fighting your way in and out of Cape Town city centre traffic!
