The Western Cape region
The house is just a 15 minute drive from the famous Boulders Beach with their resident penguins, en route to the Cape Point Nature Reserve where you can see the Atlantic and Indian Oceans converge in dramatic scenery. Follow the coast road through the historic naval port of Simon's Town, St James, Kalk Bay's quaint fishing village and Muizenberg. All of the coastal villages surrounding Noordhoek have their own unique character, restaurants and beaches. The area is full of character, diversity and natural beauty which makes the area a wonderful place to explore. There are 18 beautiful beaches to choose from in the direct area. Noordhoek is 15km away from the famous Constantia wine route, offering great wines and restaurants. Cape Town city centre, Table Mountain and The V&A Waterfront in the heart of a working harbour where you can take the boat trip to Robben Island are all around 27 km from the house, and make an easy day trip.
Climate: Mediterranean. Summer months (Nov-Mar), sunny warm (20-35 degrees). Winters (May - Sept) can get cool, more chance of rain and storms, cold especially at night, though never freezing and during the day temperatures can easily rise to 20-25 degrees with blue skies, which often makes the winters a better climate than the UK summers! Spring and autum, wonderful time for a visit, though always bring a warm top for the evenings. From Sep - Nov it's Whale season, and chances of seeing the beautiful creatures are very high. Best months to visit in our opinion is mid Feb to mid March, lovely temperatures and ussually least wind.
Noordhoek is an idyllic village in the heart of the Cape Point Route, an excellent base to explore Cape Town and surrounds. Noordhoek beach stretches for 8km with pristine white sand, which is popular for surfing, walking, kite-surfing and horse riding. The beach is West facing so every evening offers a spectacular sunset.
The area is fortunate with many stunning beaches, beautiful nature reserves, excellent restaurants, and famous golf-courses nearby.
Large shopping mall a few minutes drive with all amenities including banks, Woolworths, Pick and Pay, pharmacy, many shops and cinema. There is a doctor’s practice next to the mall, hospital twenty minutes away.
Noordhoek farm village is a delightful complex of restaurants, deli and shops in the heart of the village, remounted for offering a relaxed family friendly atmosphere. The village is an increasingly trendy complex of traditional white Cape Dutch style homes which thatched roofs which are converted into a wonderful selection of restaurants, cafe's, deli, wine cellars, art and gift shops, health and beauty centre and information centre, all centreed around a green lawn with bandstand. The Noordhoek Farm Village is a great place for morning coffee, lunch and dinner.
Enjoy beautiful hiking trails, easy nature walks or a picnic at the dam at Silvermine nature reserve. There is horse riding on Noordhoek beach, sea kayaking in Simons Town, mountain biking, camel rides at Imhoff Farm which also has a deli and a cheese dairy, scooter and motor bike rentals, yoga centres, fishing – deep sea and land based, sand boarding, township tours, surfing at one of the many beautiful surf sports on the east and west coast, health and beauty spa’s.
