About the home

The apartment at Les Gabiers is on the 4th and top floor of a small block in a residential part of Cap d’Agde. Although being very central it is also very quiet and there is no through traffic making it safe for children. There is pedestrian access to the Plage du Môle which is about 5 minutes stroll away along a pedestrianised area lined with shops and restaurants. The apartment is reached by a tenant-only key-operated lift and has its own secure parking space.

Facilities

Number 69 is light and attractive inside with a lovely sunny balcony large enough for sunbathing, barbecues and al fresco meals with views over the rooftops to the Marina and the Pyrenees.
Downstairs there is a lounge with sofa bed, TV and CD player/radio, table and chairs and coffee table. The kitchen is separated by a breakfast bar and equipped with a 2-burner gas hob, microwave/grill combi, refrigerator and cupboards containing all the necessary cooking equipment, crockery etc. There is a telephone for local calls; taxis, restaurants etc.
The shower room also has a washbasin and WC and hot water is provided although may take a little while to heat if the shower has just been used.
The bedroom is on a mezzanine that forms a gallery overlooking the living area. There are twin beds, wardrobe and dressing table. Duvets and pillows are provided for both the twin beds and the sofa bed but not linen.

Further details outdoors:
The balcony of Les Gabiers is south facing and therefore is sunny pratically all day. Perfect for outdoor eating or just sunbathing; loungers and table are provided.

Conditions

Refundable deposit required for breakages. Linen not supplied. Electricity and gas included and local telephone calls. Please note that the stairs to the mezzanine are quite steep and not good for very small children.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Herault region

The region has something to offer everyone from beautiful countryside to Phoenician towns such as Agde. The capital of the region, Montpellier, is a lively university town famous for its many museums an beautiful 17th and 18th century town houses. It is also the gateway to the Camargue famous for its white horses, flamingoes and its acres of unspoilt countryside.
There are so many places to visit in the area it is almost impossible to list them here but include the pretty town of Pezenas - home of Moliere; Beziers - the home town of Paul Riquet the designer of the Canal du Midi with is flight of 8 locks; Sete, Marseillan and Bouzigues - fishing towns and villages renouned for their seafood restaurants and the birthplace of Noilly Prat.

The Cap d'Agde area

Le Cap d’Agde has so much to offer as a Mediterranean holiday resort. There are many beaches to choose from including a naturist one but the closest to the apartment is the Plage du Môle. This beautiful, sandy beach is only 3-5 minutes stroll away along a pedestrian route, the Allée de la Flânerie, lined with shops and restaurants. There is also a swimming pool at le Môle.
As well as swimming, all watersports are catered for. You can hire a sailing dinghy or motor boat, try windsurfing or parascending, water skiing or jet-skiing, skin-diving or scuba-diving. You can even try catching something for the barbecue on a fishing trip!
If it’s other sports you are interested in, there are 32 tennis courts locally (some are floodlit, some covered), badminton and squash. For golfers, there is a choice of 18 or 9 holes with a training area, clubhouse and pro shop. If that’s not enough and you’re not exhausted by now, how about horse riding, bodybuilding, cycling, go-karting, petanque or billiards?
If this doesn’t suit you or you have had enough sport, there’s the Musée de l’Ephèbe with underwater archaeological collection or the aquarium with its beautiful array of Mediterranean and tropical fish and Aqualand for the children.
Just want to shop? There are numerous boutiques, gift shops and ordinary everyday shops plus a market several mornings during the week.
You can discover le Cap on a miniature land train or take a boat trip round the harbour. There’s a glass-bottomed boat too.
And in the evening there are enough restaurants on the Allée de la Flânerie or around the nearby Marina to suit every taste and pocket. Many of those on the Marina offer live music and on the Ile des Loisirs there are nightclubs, a cinema, casino and a fairground for the children. The Allée de la Flânerie has a wide variety of take-away food shops and supermarkets so you can eat in without having to do any cooking and the restaurants here are quieter than those around the Marina. Nearest airports are Montpellier, Perpignan, Nimes, Carcassonne. Cheap flights available to these from most regions with Flybe, Easyjet etc. Ryanair also fly now to Beziers/Cap d'Agde airport which is a short taxi ride to the apartment. Nearest rail station is Agde approx 6km from the apartment and taxis are always waiting.

“Excellent” We have visited this place in the end of August, and have found it to be very pleasant, not so overcrowded as some other places in the coast. May be if you are looking for entertainment and shopping this place does not approach you. But it very much approaches for silent and quiet rest. We should say it is ideal for children, one can find various beaches there. Some of them are shallow like basins for children some of them are deep and very good for swimmers. And we anywhere any more did not see such quantity of beautiful sea shells on a beach so to the child there is, than to be engaged. And the place itself has some unpretentious but very special charm. The location of the room is very good it is not far from a beach. However, if it is boring to sit on one place, by the car it is possible to reach quickly many interesting places and to look at the coast of Languedoc. So, we have very good impressions of that place, in our opinion it is a very good choice for a calm rest. Dmitry and Elena, Moscow
