This cosy, grade II listed home has been lovingly restored to provide holiday accommodation for 2 guests in the heart of the city. Believed to have been the home of monks, Rose Cottage dates back to 1825 and is a one minute walk from Canterbury's beautiful Dane John Gardens. This bijou cottage is snuggled within the city walls and has been completely refurbished while retaining much of its original charm. With its character preserved, the accommodation provides authentic features such as leaded-light and stone windows. Perfect for couples, Rose Cottage caters for romantic holidays and business breaks (wifi internet, TV). Rose Cottage comprises a double bedroom, kitchen, shower room and secluded patio garden to the rear.

Possibly the smallest and cutest cottage in Canterbury, this delightful holiday home stands centrally located to the city's amenities. Detached within the owner's grounds, Rose Cottage is comfortably furnished to provide a warm welcome at any time of year. Good walking and cycling available. Canterbury cathedral is one of the many attractions within easy walking distance. In keeping with traditional monastic design, Rose Cottage invites a spirit of contemplation, a motif with the concept of simplicity at its heart, a retreat to keep the mind from getting drawn constantly into worldly affairs:-

“Every large monastery had depending upon it one or more smaller establishments known as cells. These cells were monastic colonies, sent forth by the parent house, and planted on some outlying estate” from the 1911 'Encyclopedia Article on the Abbey'.

The Kent region

A warm welcome.

Canterbury's skyline is dominated by the stunning Cathedral, the oldest in England. But the cathedral is only part of the story; the ancient ruins of St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's Church form Canterbury's UNESCO World Heritage Site while other ancient ruins such as the Castle are reminders of the city's history, heritage and culture. The Canterbury district offers you so much to see and do during your stay with a huge variety of attractions and indoor and outdoor activities to suit all tastes and interests, including enjoy quirky individualism in Whitstable, traditional charms in Herne Bay and a truly inspiring city of Canterbury.

Canterbury

Welcome to Canterbury's stunning architecture and world heritage buildings.

Rose Cottage is situated within the city walls and a short stroll from the cathedral, theatre and shops. Canterbury has the perfect blend of city, coast and countryside, ensuring that however varied your interests are you will be spoilt for choice. Come and enjoy our beautiful coastline and countryside and our breath-taking heritage and culture. And at the end of the day enjoy a drink by the river Stour, a visit to the magnificent Canterbury Cathedral or a journey back in time to Chaucer's England. Canterbury is simply inspirational!

"Not quite as charming as it appears"

Upon arrival at Rose "Cottage" we were not at all impressed with its size, access to and from the property and lack of amenities. Access is gained down an alleyway where residents appear to … More
