The Piedmont region

The Maritime Alps offer peaceful valleys and amazing mountain tops, authentic Piedmont traditions with easy access to the Ligurian coast.

The Tanaro Valley at 700 meters above sea level offers a cool summer escape when temperatures rise in the rest of Italy and the riverside beaches offer a pleasant alternative to crowded coastlines.

Spring is not to be missed when delicate flowers and herbs sprinkle the streets and walking paths. Autumn walks in the mountains are a photographers dream.

Rock climbing, trekking and biking can be done all year round. Downhill, cross country ski and snow shoe.

Cantarana

Ormea is a small town of approximately 1,700 inhabitants. Each season is celebrated with various cultural activities and different "sagras" or eating festivals. It's a great place for families as children can ride horses, play volleyball and mini golf or try their hand at fishing. Ormea in Onda is a fun water slide competition not to be missed as a spectator or as a participant!

Students of history will enjoy exploring the forts and towers built to defend against the Saracens. Food enthusiasts will love the cheeses, typical pasta saraceno, bagna cauda, Ormeasco wine, fresh trout and of course . . . the mushrooms. We have picnic baskets and can organize wine and cheese tastings in the garden at the house.

"Comfortable and beautiful home with very friendly hosts"

Villa Tanaro is an excellent starting point for walking in the beautiful mountains of the Ligurian and the Sea Alps.
It's also possible explore the coast or to spend a day at the sea.
In Ormea you will find all you need for your daily demands.
The apartment is very cosy, clean and the kitchen is fully equipped with all what you need.
Anna and Matteo are very helpful to give advicesfor further activities. The dogs are very friendly.

"Fantastic Apartment in beautiful, remote, unspoilt Italy."

We loved our holiday at Villa Tanaro. We stayed with 3 kids and there was plenty of space. The apartment is beautiful, very well equipped and clean. We had a very warm welcome and help from the owners to find our way around and explore the area. Bikes to hire on sight was helpful, fantastic mountain trails and gorgeous river lagoons to swim and jump in. Also - less than an hour's drive to the mediterranean meant we could mix realxed days lying on the beach with active days hiking, cycling, trying our hand at rock climbing and pony trekking in the mountains. Fantastic weather a few degrees cooler than the coast due to the altitude made for the perfect temperature. This holiday was superb value for money and we would recommend it to anyone. Thanks Anna and Matteo for making us so welcome.
