The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region
The French Riviera has been one of the world’s great holiday destinations for many years and has always attracted a celebrity clientele. It’s not hard to see why, when you consider its many attractions. Whether you prefer to take in a sophisticated floorshow, enjoy a meal in a gourmet restaurant, try your luck in a casino, or savour the ambiance and watch the world go by at an al fresco café, this is the place to be seen.
The Riviera is at once both relaxed and exciting. More than any other part of France, it defines style and chic, yet it is also an area of outstanding rugged natural beauty. Despite the warmth, the area is lush and green. The warm waters of the Mediterranean bring the obvious attraction of a beach holiday, with plenty of watersports available, yet the Alps make a spectacular backdrop and provide a venue for skiing (the nearest slopes,at Gréolieres sur Neige, are under an hour away from Cannes), snowboarding, climbing, hiking, mountain biking, paragliding and nature watching.
The region is a golfer’s paradise, with many courses, including The Royal Mougins, Riviera Golf at Mandelieu, Royal Mandelieu, Valescure/St. Raphael and Opio/Valbonne. Petanques (boules), tennis and cycling are also popular and well-catered-for.
The views along the coast are beautiful and can be enjoyed by car or by train. The train service is excellent, clean and reliable. The coastal route from Cannes takes you through Juan-les-Pins, Nice, Eze-sur-Mer, Beaulieu, Villefranche-sur-Mer, Monaco and on to Ventimiglia in Italy. You can alight at any station along your route to explore a town, then continue your journey.
Picturesque villages around Cannes include Mougins (gastronomic heart of the Côte d’Azur), Grasse (famous for its world-class perfumeries) and Vallauris (known for its pottery).
Juan-les-Pins boasts fine, sandy beaches and a vibrant nightlife. Famed for its jazz festival in July and its August season of music with fireworks displays there are many other festivals throughout the year. Juan-les-Pins merges into Antibes, home of the largest private yacht marina in Europe. This is situated next to the walled old town, with its many pavement cafés, restaurants, churches, art galleries and shops; a delight to explore. Here you will also find Renoir’s home and, situated in the Château Grimaldi, the Picasso museum. Antibes was founded in the fifth century B.C. and the archaeological sites and Fort Carre will appeal to all with an interest in history.
Nice boasts a wealth of traditional Provençal architecture, and the narrow streets of the old town, with their many shops and cafés are a joy to explore. At the edge of the old town, the Cours Saleya is lined with excellent cafés and is home to the flower market. From the old town, the Promenade des Anglais stretches along the coast right alongside the beach. It is a lovely place to stroll or to take a horse-drawn carriage ride. Nice, once a part of Italy, has a long history which can be explored in its many museums. The largest city on the Côte d’Azur, Nice has a wide range of excellent ethnic restaurants including Tunisian, Iranian and Afghan. Another annual attraction is the lively Nice carnival every February.
Monaco has many attractions for the visitor. This independent Principality comprises two towns set on hilltops. The older town of Monaco with its narrow cobbled streets full of cafes and shops is full of character. Here you will also find the Royal Palace and the Napoleon Bonaparte museum. The newer, though still historic, town of Monte Carlo is home to the world renowned casino, which is open to visitors as well as high rollers. The bay which lies between the two towns is the site of the yacht marina, housing some of the largest and most exclusive private yachts in the world. The Monaco Formula One Grand Prix is one of the most famous sporting events in the world, drawing afficionados from far and wide each May. Another noteworthy annual sporting event is the Monte Carlo tennis open, held at the Monte Carlo Country Club each April. The train makes a special stop for the tennis spectators just beyond Monaco and the views of the bay from the platform are spectacular.
Cannes / Palm Beach, Cannes area
Stylish and chic, Cannes is famous for its nightlife, casinos and festivals, most notably the International Film Festival, and the celebrities who come here to be seen on the red carpet. Celebrity-spotting is popular, but there is so much more to see and do in and around Cannes.
The Côte d'Azur is warm, and Cannes has fabulous sandy beaches. Water sports are popular. Windsurfing, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, water skiing, parascending, jet skiing, sailing, boat hire and boat trips are all available. Our apartment in the desirable Palm Beach area of Cannes is approximately 100m. from two of the best beaches in Cannes (and both are free). It is also close to the marina, which is home to many lavish yachts, while the nearby casino offers opportunities for a wide range of games.
Also nearby are the beautiful and peaceful Iles de Lérins (Islands of Lérins), once the home of the famous Man in the Iron Mask, now home to a maritime museum. The historic area of Le Suquet is the medieval old town of Cannes and its gastronomic heart. Here you will find many restaurants serving traditional Mediterranean French cuisine. Le Suquet is set on a hill overlooking the old port, from which you can take a ferry to several of the towns on the Riviera coast, such as St. Tropez.
The shopping in Cannes is superb. There are many designer boutiques. Look out for Bulgari, Cartier, Chanel, Hermes, Louis Vuitton, Versace and Yves St. Laurent among others. The main shopping street is the Rue d'Antibes, but there are many more.
Our apartment is just off the famous Boulevard de la Croisette, and the pleasant stroll along the seafront promenade will take you past (or possibly into) many designer boutiques, restaurants and casinos and on to the Palais des Festivals, home of the Cannes Film Festival. Being within easy walking distance of the Palais des Festivals, the apartment is ideal for anybody attending a conference or festival, including MIDEM, MIPIM, MIPTV, the International Film Festival, Cannes Lions, MIPCOM, TFWA, MAPIC and Mare e Moda.

"Thank you for the note, we had a fantastic time in Cannes, the apartment was perfect for our needs. I would ask that you pass on our thanks to Becky for being so patient as we arrived very late due to missing our connection flight in London due to mechanical problems in Melbourne."
Leigh Monti Managing Partner AXIS Media Communications Melbourne, Australia

Mrs. Susan Williams St. Austell, United Kingdom.

"We were very pleased with our stay in your apartment in Cannes, and have already recommended it to some friends. It was nice, clean and quiet, and close to everything! Thanks for all your kind assistance."
Anne-Grete Gudesen, Gressvik, Norway.
"We had a fabulous time in Cannes, the apartment was all we expected and more, if anything the photos on the website do not do it justice. It was more spacious than we expected and the location was superb, particularly the outlook from the front balcony where we spent many a happy hour."
Fiona Black, Crossford, United Kingdom
"Thank you for a lovely spot to call home for our vacation. We enjoyed our stay very much. The flat was terrific and is located in such a great area. The flat is very well equipped, is clean, fresh and nicely decorated. It was great that several beaches are within two minutes walk and that the bus is so handy also. When you book online it's always a little worrisome that the booking will not be what you hoped, but we were not disappointed. Becky and Sandrine were very helpful in Cannes and quickly responded to our requests."
Mrs. L. O. , Missisauga, Canada
