Whatever your pleasure, be sure to take advantage of the range of self-catering apartments in Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur.
Holiday in Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur
There are literally endless activities on offer for visitors to the Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region. On the south coast, Marseille is the oldest city in France and a mesmerising mix of North African and Middle Eastern cultures. Head east along the coast and arrive at the famed French Riviera. Hang out with the rich and famous at stylish Cannes or kick back amongst the restaurants and markets of Nice. For history, each of Toulon, Arles and Avignon are full of highlights, with the latter being home to the Palace of the Popes dating back to the 14th Century. The Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur region is blessed with natural beauty as far as the eye can see. Do not miss the chance to go hiking in Mercantour National Park or kayaking in the dramatic river canyons of Verdon Gorge. Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur is a region for all seasons and during the winter months the snow-capped Alpine mountains are a haven for skiers. With so much on offer it is important to have somewhere comfortable to stay and self-catering apartments and villas are a great option.
Renting holiday accommodation in Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur
Accommodation in Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur comes in all shapes and sizes and offers far more than overpriced hotels and guesthouses. Great alternatives include apartments in Nice and a fine array of luxury Cannes apartments. There can be nothing more satisfying than stepping out onto the balcony of a private villa to take in the stunning views of the French Riviera. Similarly, renting self-catering accommodation in Provence Alpes Cote d’Azur will allow you and your travelling companions easy access to picturesque towns like Aix-en-Provence and Briancon.
Cannes, with its world renowned Film Festival, gorgeous beaches and luxurious boutiques is a must-see on the French Riviera. Visitors enjoy walking along La Croisette, the famous waterfront lined with palm trees, lovely boutiques and cafés. While the city oozes of opulence, there is much more to explore, especially for art and culture appreciators who can wander in the old town, or visit some of the numerous museums the city has to offer. The Musée d'Art et d'Histoire de Provence will enchant history lovers with artefacts dating back to the Prehistoric, while the Musée de la Castre holds objects from Pacific islands or Peru and will take visitors on a journey to distant lands. After spending the day sightseeing and capturing the essence of the Mediterranean city, visitors can relax in one of the quality apartments in Cannes and truly experience the city as locals.
When to go to Cannes
With its warm summers and mild winters, Cannes is a destination that can be enjoyed all year round. While tourists crowd the city between June and September to take advantage of the average temperature of 25°C, a late spring or early autumn trip is recommended, when temperatures are slightly lower but still pleasant enough to indulge in the beautiful and peaceful beaches. Thanks to a low rainfall and relatively mild temperatures between December and February, Cannes is also an ideal destination for winter city breaks.
Getting to and around Cannes
Conveniently located 15 miles from the major Nice Côte-d'Azur airport, Cannes is easily reachable with CannesExpress, a shuttle service between the airport and the town centre. Many national train lines including the famous TGV also connect Cannes to other French cities like Nice, Toulouse, Marseille, Lyon and Paris, while local and regional coaches provide access to neighbouring towns.
