Cannes is located in the department of Alpes-Maritimes and the region of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. Located on the Mediterranean Sea, it is 36 km from Nice, 55 km from Monaco and 60 km from the Italian border.
The apartment is located right in the heart of Cannes, on rue du Commandant Andre which is situated between La Croisette and the rue d'Antibes. It is a 2 minute walk to the beach and a 5 minute walk to the Palais des Festivals. This couldn't be better located if you are attending one of the many Festivals/congresses that take place in Cannes throughout the year.
There is a multitude of bars and restaurants right outside the front door of the apartment building. Within 1 minute's walk you can have a drink in one of the trendiest bars in town, move on to have a traditional French brasserie or opt for sushi instead!
If you are there for a holiday the beach is 2 minutes away and you can choose to hire a sunbed on one of the many beach clubs along the Croisette or just settle down on the public beach.
There is a daily food market at Marche Gametta (a 2 minute walk away) and on this same square is a Monoprix Supermarket which has long opening hours. However the biggest market in Cannes is Marche Forville. This is to the west side of Cannes towards Le Suquet and is open Tuesday to Sunday, finishing at Midday.
La Croisette and rue d'Antibes are both 1 minutes' walk from the apartment, at either end of the street. These are the main shopping streets in Cannes. La Croisette is famous for all the designer shops along it's length, including Dior, Chanel, Gucci, Boucheron and Salvatore Ferragamo to name only a few. Rue D'Antibes has Mango, Zara, Promod, Vilebrequin and Sephora.

The apartment is on the 4th floor (without a lift) and comprises a kitchen/ living room, bathroom and bedroom. It is located at the rear of the building and all the windows are double glazed, which means that you can leave the buzz of the town centre and step into your own quiet space at the end of a busy day.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur region
Right down in the south-east corner of France on the Mediterranean shore, with Italy to the east, is the Alpes Maritimes. This départment includes the Riviera and its hinterland, attracting tourists from throughout the world, with its mosaic of Provençal landscapes and culture.
What makes this départment so beautiful is its craggy coastline with the Alps plunging straight down into the blue sea. At certain times of the year one can even have the difficult choice of whether to ski or to swim! The slopes are only 1 and a half hours away from Cannes and there are coaches that leave daily to the slopes during the ski season.
The sun here is legendary, shining 320 days a year.
From Cannes to Nice, passing through Antibes and Menton all the way to the Italian border, this area is particularly prestigious. The coastline is dotted with turn-of-the century mansions and luxurious homes.
The quaint old quarters of Nice and the famous flower market are a delight to visit. All along the coast one is charmed by the little fishing ports so important to the local culture and industry. There are world renowned events that take place here such as Mardi Gras in Nice, the Jazz Festival in Juan les Pins and the Cannes Film Festival.
As soon as you leave the sea and head inland, the landscape changes completely. The roads spiral through the hills and the mountains jutting up high above the water.
The hills are covered with umbrella pines, thyme shrubs, flowering laurel trees, giant cactus plants and olive groves, all accompanied by the constant singing of the cicadas.
The city of Grasse has become the world’s perfume capital thanks to all of these aromatic plants.
The 325 km of navigable rivers lend themselves to a great variety of water sports including abseiling and kayaking.
The Mercantour Nature Park spreads out over 120 km from the Col de Tende to Ubaye. It is a nature reserve sheltering many species of animals and plants all in a magnificent setting of 68,500 hectares.
Cannes France is a picturesque town located on French Riviera. Well known for the Cannes Film Festival that takes place each May, Cannes is also a very popular tourist destination. It offers visitors great weather, many interesting tourist attractions, museums and some beautiful Mediterranean beaches.
There is an International Firework Festival in July and August (these displays are free and can be seen from the beach).
Popular activities in this fashionable resort community include sailing, swimming, shopping and attending events that are held at the Festival and Congress Centre each year.
Cannes is situated on a large bay that welcomes sailboats and yachts from around the Mediterranean. It is also located on the main railway line that runs from Marseille to Nice, Monte Carlo and into Italy. Cannes is conveniently located 35km from Nice International Airport.
There are many day trips by ferry available and the boats go from Cannes Old Port to the Iles de Lérins (of Man in the Iron Mask fame), Monaco and St Tropez throughout the summer.

"Perfect place in the heart of Cannes"
Glad I chose this apartment over others. Perfectly located in the middle of everything, beach less than 2mins away, shops right nearby for all kinds of shopping. Even though the building is located in a very busy part of Cannes, the flat itself is at the back of the building making it a very quiet place to stay, which ensures that you get a good night's sleep.
Wi-fi connection was excellent and there was also a choice of a few English channels to watch too.
It was great to wake up in the morning knowing that I could get fresh fruit and veg at the Gambetta market which is only 1 minute's walk away at Place Gambetta. Delicious pains au chocolat and croissants could also be bought from various bakeries in the area.
Another bonus is that there is a 24 hour pharmacy at Place Gambetta which is always useful.
The price we paid for 1 week was very reasonable and I would highly recommend this flat to couples or a family with 1 child.

"A cracking appartment in the heart of the Cannes"
This one bedroom apartment is on the fourth floor with no lift as it is described, any reservations about this soon evaporate the first time you venture out. You can not find a better location, a minute or so to the beach, all the trendy bars and nightlife on the doorstep and access to the Palais is almost unrivaled.
I have stayed further away from the Crossette on previous trips and have to say that I would take the fourth floor every time to be this close to the action.
The apartment is well appointed and had clearly been recently renovated. The close proximity to Place Gambetta a gret local market for fresh produce for the couple of meals we had in.
Finally being on the fourth for and also at the back of the building does have its advantages... Given the location the apartment it is very quiet.
