The Roberts Apartment
About the home
This 3-bedroomed apartment is very tastefully furnished and comprehensively equipped. The three bedrooms all have the same blue/white decor and the modern bathroom is equipped with double sinks, bath/shower and large mirrors. The sitting/dining room is bright and sunny, and with the double doors open on to the balcony, eating at the dining table has an al fresco feel about it! The large windows and lovely old blue french shutters are typical of this age of building and are the same in the bedrooms, which are all at the back overlooking the courtyard and therefore quiet, an important consideration in central Cannes!
Three minutes walk to beach and Palais de Festival and an ideal location for exploring the rest of the Cote d'Azur. This apartment is idealy situated for wandering to the markets, shops, cafes, restaurants or the beach, all on your doorstep. Marche Gambetta is a couple of minutes walk away.......has everything from beautiful flowers, wonderful fresh mediterranean vegetables and fruit to clothes, shoes etc at amazing prices! The covered Marche Fourville is less than 10 mins away on foot and it has recently had a facelift and now looks even smarter than before with a breath-takingly enormous range of fresh produce. There is an antiques market there every Monday. A large Monoprix departmental store is a two min walk from the apartment, with clothes etc downstairs and normal supermarket shopping upstairs! ......and the famous rue 'Antibes with it's designer shops is a stone's throw away and is wonderful for shopping or window-shopping! The sea-front, La Croisette, is one of the highlights of a stay in Cannes. About a kilometre long, with restaurants, sandy beaches, palm trees and a wide pavement for strolling and with special Cannes blue chairs for resting and admiring the wonderful views!

Further details indoors:
This apartment has three bedrooms and the double beds can be made up as singles. There is an extra small bed in Bedroom 3 for a child. It is very easy to run but we do have a helper locally, who will be happy to provide housekeeping services should you require them. At the moment the cost is 12 euro per hour and is passed on at cost. There are washing lines from the back balcony. The front balcony is not a terrace as this is an old building with more typical traditional balconies but it does have a table and two chairs and with the french windows open it appears bigger! We enjoy cooking so the American kitchen is very well equipped and we also have folding beach chairs, umbrellas and beach games for guests' use. There is a very comprehensive collection of local interest books, brochures and timetables....and even french dictionaries! A library of books and dvds are there for guests use.
Further details outdoors:
Wonderful cafes, restaurants, markets and shops virtually on the doorstep! The beach, the Palais de Festival and the famous Croisette, seafront, are about three minutes walk away. The rue d'Antibes with it's renowned designer shops is about one minute's walk away and from there it is an easy stroll to Le Suquet (the old town of Cannes) with its narrow winding streets and wonderful restaurants. There are amazing views from the old church at the top! Stroll back via the harbour, passing the petanque players on the way!! The train station and the bus stops are only a couple of minutes walk away and all bus journeys are one euro at the moment. They are very reliable and easy to use. The train runs right along by the sea in both directions and is an extremely scenic trip. A ticket to a given destination, ie Nice or Morocco enables you to get on and off the train on the way, so you can have a wonderful day out by having morning coffee in Antibes, lunch in Villefranche and afternoon coffee in Monaco for example. There are numerous and delightful coastal walks for all levels of ability......consult the large wall map and have fun planning your days!
Rental periods are usually Saturday to Saturday and we arrange for keys to be collected locally, 24/7. The apartment is prepared, with beds made up and towels provided and there is a charge for a final clean, laundering of the linen and towels, and electricity and telephone usage. This is usual in central Cannes and is normally in the region of 100 euros. It is passed on at cost (12 euro per hour). A security deposit of 350 euros/£250 is taken which is returned within two weeks of the end of the stay minus the cleaning etc charge. A deposit of 25% secures the booking and the balance of the rental is due six weeks before the stay.
The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Alpes-Maritimes region
It is well positioned for exploring the whole of the Cote d'Azure: Antibes, Nice and Monaco are just a short, scenic train journey away along the coast and visit Mougins for its famous restaurants, and Grasse for the perfumeries. Take the train to Aix-en-Provence and delight at the beautiful old buildings, markets and the countryside of Provence! There are too many excursions to mention here but as an example, in addition to taking the train in the direction of Nice, another interesting little train trip is to go in the other direction to the other end of the Bay of Cannes, about 10 minutes on the train, to La Napoule. Make your way out of the station across a very pretty courtyard full of tempting restaurants and cross the road to the sea front. Go down on to the beach to the right of the beautiful old castle (which houses an art exhibition), cross the sands and stroll right along between the sea and the castle walls along an old stone path and then continue over the cliffs to more beaches, harbours and restaurants with decks out over the water. Admire the stunning views back to the castle, the whole of the Bay of Cannes, Nice and the snow-capped mountains beyond, or watch the fish in the crystal clean waters below you, as you sip a delicious French coffee! It doesn't get better than this! .
The Cannes / Central Cannes area
Cannes has everything, beaches, restaurants, markets, shops, harbour and old town and a stunning seafront with views out to the Lerrins Islands, the Esterel Mountains and the snow-capped Alps!. There are five excellent and very scenic golf courses near Cannes. The skiing areas take about 2 hours to drive to but the mountains and lakes for excellent walking are much closer. Coastal walking is wonderful and the apartment has an excellent library of local interest books and maps to help plan your stay. Boat trips out from Cannes to the beautiful, totally unspoilt and peaceful Lerrins Islands are regular every day service and also further to St. Tropez.
