Sleeping 5/6, the main sitting/dining room is bright with double doors to a sunny balcony. A well designed bright kitchen area is fully equipped for modern and easy living, with fridge/freezer, ceramic hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine etc. The three bedrooms, two doubles, the third a little smaller but can also be double, all overlook the courtyard and are therefore quiet and all have the same blue&white décor. The modern bathroom is equipped with double sinks, bath/shower & large mirrors. The separate toilet has sink and mirror. Large windows throughout the apartment give a light and airy feel and all have lovely old blue French shutters. A large flat-screen tv with dvd is in the comfortable sitting area with a comprehensive library of quality paperbacks, local interest books and brochures/timetables etc. and games. Free wi-fi and also free telephone calls to over l00 countries!

No need to have a car here as three minute's walk takes you to beach and Palais de Festival & two mins to the train and bus stations, making it also an easy location for exploring the whole of the Cote d'Azur. This apartment is also ideally situated for wandering around Cannes, to the markets, cafes, restaurants, beach, and shopping (or window-shopping!) along the famous rue d'Antibes, all on your doorstep. The daily Gambetta market, a couple of minute's walk away, has everything from beautiful flowers, wonderful fresh vegetables and fruit to clothes, shoes etc at amazing prices! In the old town, le Suquet, the large covered Fourville market is less than 10 mins away on foot via the cobbled quaint rue Meynardier, has a breath-takingly large range of fresh produce- a great photo opportunity. There is an antiques market there every Monday. Two-minute's away is a Monoprix departmental store with clothes etc downstairs and an excellent supermarket upstairs! The sea-front, La Croisette, is one of the highlights of a stay in Cannes. About a kilometre long, it has beach restaurants, sand, sun, sea and palm trees, a wide pavement for strolling and special Cannes blue chairs for resting and admiring the wonderful views!

This apartment has three bedrooms and the double beds can be made up as singles. There is an extra small bed in Bedroom 3 for a child. It is very easy to run but we do have a helper locally, who will be happy to provide housekeeping services should you require them. At the moment the cost is 17 euro per hour and is passed on at cost. There are washing lines from the back balcony. The front sunny balcony is not a terrace as this is an old building with more typical traditional balconies but it does have two chairs and with the french windows open it appears bigger! We enjoy cooking so the American kitchen is very well equipped and we also have folding beach chairs, umbrellas and beach games for guests' use. There is a very comprehensive collection of local interest books, brochures and timetables....and even french dictionaries! A library of books and dvds are there for guests use.

Further details outdoors

Wonderful Cannes cafes, restaurants, markets and shops virtually on the doorstep! The beach, the Palais de Festival and the famous Croisette, seafront, are about three minutes walk away, perfect for holidays. The rue d'Antibes with it's renowned designer shops is about one minute's walk away and from there it is an easy stroll to Le Suquet (the old town of Cannes) with its narrow winding streets and wonderful restaurants. There are amazing views from the old church at the top! Stroll back via the harbour, passing the petanque players on the way!! The train station and the bus stops are only a couple of minutes walk away and all bus journeys are one euro at the moment. They are very reliable and easy to use. The train runs right along by the sea in both directions and is an extremely scenic trip. A ticket to a given destination, ie Nice or Morocco enables you to get on and off the train on the way, so you can have a wonderful day out by having morning coffee in Antibes, lunch in Villefranche and afternoon coffee in Monaco for example. There are numerous and delightful coastal walks for all levels of ability......consult the large wall map and have fun planning your days!

Further details

Rental periods are usually Saturday to Saturday and we arrange for keys to be collected locally, 24/7. The apartment is prepared, with beds made up and towels provided, but you will need your own beach towels. There is a charge for a final clean, laundering of the linen and towels, and electricity and telephone usage. This is usual in central Cannes and is normally in the region of 150 euros. It is passed on at cost (17 euro per hour). A security deposit of 350 euros/£250 is taken which is returned within two weeks of the end of the stay minus the cleaning etc charge. A deposit of 25% secures the booking and the balance of the rental is due six weeks before the stay.

The French Riviera - Cote d'Azur region

Cannes and the Cote d'Azur has long been popular for its lovely climate, especially the mild and sunny Winters. Arriving at Nice Airport and seeing the beautiful palm trees against the deep blue sky is usually the start of most people's South of France adventure. A short 30 minute bus ride to Central Cannes enables the holiday or business trip to start without fatigue. Most visitors can't wait to stroll the 3 minutes down to the Croisette and admire the deep blue sea against the Esterel Mountain,s grab a cold drink or have lunch in one of the beach restaurants and then snooze on the beach in the sun! A short ten minute stroll from the apartment via the cobbled shooping rue Meynardier takes you to the old town, Le Suquet, where there is the wonder ru St Antoine. Resembling a film set, especially in the evenings, this cobbled, winding and rising narrow lane has restaurants on either side and at the top is a lovely old church from where you can get the most panoramic view of Cannes. At the bottom of the old town is the harbour with lots of yachts and fishing boats and from where you can get the ferry out to the Lerins Islands, St Margeurite and St Honourat, a lovely little trip. Further westwards from the harbour is the Place du Midi, a beach and coastal walk which goes on for two to three miles and end at La Napoule. The old castle on the beach at La Napoule has a wonderful roof terrace for lunch or tea and there is some lovely coastal walking there too. Going eastwards from the harbour, past the Palais de Festival and along the Croisette, there are more beaches and parks. Inland there are many pretty villages. Valbonne is well worth a visit on Friday morning for the market and the bus goes from very close to the apartment to the village itself. Visit Mougins to see the artists at work or Grasse, by bus or train, for the wonderful perfumeries.

Our holiday apartment is perfectly situated for exploring the whole region of the Cote d'Azur. We are just a few minutes from the train station and the railway really hugs the coast in this region, making it one of the most scenic lines in the country. It is also possible to get on and off the train at any station on the way to your destination, so you could buy a ticket say to Monaco and have morning coffee in Antibes, lunch in pretty little Villefrance and spend the afternoon in Monaco. There are also lots fo coastal and beach walks: Golfe Juan to Juan les Pins, Jual les Pins to Antibes around the beautiful cap d'Antibes, around St Jean cap Ferrat, or the shorter Beaulieu to St Jean along the wonderful paved path passing the late David Niven's charming pink house on the very edge of the sea. Menton is also well worth a visit as the last town before you get to Italy. You can also visit St Raphael in the other direction for more lovely rocky walks! All these places are train stations and at the time of writing there is a ticket available called a Zhou which costs 30 euro, is valid for a year, and enables the holder and up to three accompanying passengers to travel for half fare. The cost is soon recouperated! Bus travel is also very easy and convenient and again at the time of writing all journeys cost one euro! I cannot end without a mention of Nice with its lovely flower markets and renowned seafood restaurants. The wide sea front is perfect also for cycling and it's possible to hire bikes there or at Cagnes sur Mer (another train station) and cyce to Nice. From Cannes, you can also take a boat trip to St Tropez or the train to wonderful Provencal Aix en Provence.
