No 1 Boutique Apartment in Cannes
The ball drops in December 2009! Cannes first concept boutique apartment will be ready to rent. How did this start? As creative director i was sent to attend the Advertising Festival in Cannes. I enjoyed every minute - except for the accommodation. Why look at outlandish granny wallpapers or sit on outlet furniture while celebrating the most innovative minds at the mundane Cote d’Azur? Why make a rain dance to grab a rare cab, even though the rented apartment is supposedly in the smack centre of Cannes? These conditions must be easily fixable I thought... Alas, - an apartment rental that was designed with passion and a tidbit of financial folly for design I never found. Hence I concepted one myself:
Three imperatives on the perfect apartment:
1. It had to be in throwing distance to the Palais des Festival and the Croisette 2. It had to be spacious enough for all my ideas (140 – 150 m2) 3. It had to be completely run down
Like this I would have the liberty to streamline the renovation to the needs of modern day managers, musicians, actors or summer guests who would want to spend their most important weeks here.
148 m2 Inspiration, Re-Invention and Implementation.
It took more than 2 years to find the perfect gem at Nr. 16 Rue Buttura. An impressive turn-of-the-century building at the corner of Rue D´Antibes, Cannes’ ‚Madison Avenue’, only a mere 100 m (100 yards) to the Palais des Festival. Those who are vertigo-free can actually catch a view of the red carpet or a glimpse of ‚le grand bleu‘ from the master bedrooms’ french balcony.
Noblesse oblige...
Rue Buttura is a small one-way street without much traffic (hence lacking the typical ‚Vespa surround system’). The building’s entrance hall is well receiving and the elevator was a must for the days one doesn’t want to be challenged by stairs. The apartments fading gloriosity lay bare with only the historic parquet, terrazzo tiles, antique leaf doors and the morning sun in one wing and evening sun in the other. 2008 the designers of Spatialdesignstudio, New York were given the task of designing a dwelling for the innovative folks that frequent the Music, TV and Film Awards and the luxury realty congress. Creating a sanctuary enticing every notion from working mode to lounging.
4 bedrooms & 4 Apple-TV stations
There are four bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom (admit it, you don’t fancy bumping into your CEO in your undies, waiting in line for the bathroom). The bedrooms are equipped with 32-inch Philips Ambilight’ flat screens and connected to a MAC-TV station. It’s enabled to hook up your personal MP3-player/I-Pod. and fully loaded with dozens of award winning films, cable TV, Internet, YouTube and the latest music playlists.
Since the nightlife in Cannes can be exhausting, well-deserved sleep is even more important! The German designer J. Baumann designed the beds especially fitted for this Cannes apartment. You can slide the bed - light years away - from the other bed with your colleague in it, or snuggling tight without the bruising gap between you and your ‚objet du désir’. Naturally we provide the perfect air conditions. Be it by the gentle breeze of a ceiling fan or via an individually operated air condition. It’s your choice of air!
4 en suite bathrooms as pure as their design.
Rising and shining made easy (even if the champagne at the nearby yacht harbor was too tempting that prior night). All 4 bathrooms are equipped with the Spanish bathroom line ‘Cosmic’ and the Italian tiles of ‘Praticia Urquiola for Mutina’. Ensuring your well being with design and rain showers or bathtub.
The meeting room for conference or festivity.
The conference room will happily seat your guests or easily place up to 10 or 12 business partners at the table. You can lean back in the ‘Eames Eiffel Chair’, inspired by – you guessed it - the Eiffel Tower. A strong Wi-Fi will let you browse all over the apartment. There is a 32-inch flat screen with laptop cable that lets your presentation look good even in the brightest sunlight. A markerboard on an easel it will help you making your point. Of course there is air condition to cool you down in above-mentioned sunlight. Sounds too perfect to work? Then welcome to your dining room!
Jura gourmet coffee - even inside the apartment.
Right next to the conference room you can ‚barista’ your own espresso with the undisputed best espresso machine. But not only coffee comfort is taken care of, - the sunny kitchen has a dishwasher, laundromat with dryer, oven etc.
Lounge and chill in the salon.
After a day in your swim- or business-suit you can lean back on the ‘Barcelona Chairs’ or lounge on the daybed or sofa and chill with the AC on. Recommended reading: ‘Escape to Life’, the famous Cote D´azur travel guide by Klaus and Erika Mann. As a reference to the film festival there is a giant film lamp named “Hitchcock“. You can bathe in the spotlight without the paparazzi hassle. The eye-popping sideboard pops open to a comfortable bed – the living room is now an additional bedroom if needed.

Your privacy is important to us, but we can also provide you with all our attention. You will be greeted personally and given a tour of the apartment. After that our home is your home. The final cleaning, the cotton sheets and fluffy towels are included. With our concierge service you can turn the boutique apartment into a hotel. You require every-day cleaning, a boat rental or a bottle of champagne? Just call our representative and he will assist you 24 h / day with his utter most hospitality.

Cannes is very lively with a large choice of restaurants and cafes. All only a few metres away. There are also the beautiful sandy beaches on La Croisette, plenty of shopping on Rue d'Antibes and the twisting back streets of the romantic old town.
The daily market Forville is within 5 min. walking distance of the apartment with a large choice of many different local foods and flowers.
How to get there
Take a plane to nice (for example swiss or easy jet). The airport bus leaves every 30 minutes and will bring you in 40 minutes nonstop to the centre of cannes. From the bus station it is less than 5 minutes walking to the apartment.

At this moment (end of october) the apartment is in its final stage of furnishing – hence there are only external photos of the building, but architectural drawings and layouts by New Yorks Spatialdesignstudio’s office. First occasion to book will be the 1st of January 2010. For example for MIDEM, MIPIM or MIP TV. Companies that confirm booking before 2010 ware reserved a 25% discount of the official prizes. All terms will be guaranteed in writing.

In the last couple of years there has been the occasional case of rental fraud in Cannes. Non-existing apartments were advertised online and rented to the unsuspecting visitor. Understanding your possible concerns, I gladly send you the owner’s certificate signed by the notary. Or you rent this apartment via the most established rental agencies in Cannes.

In Cannes you will be personally welcomend and introduced to your apartment by our service agency. They will provide fresh sheets and towels and will also arrange the final cleaning. In case there is a question or problem you can always call them. For the total service package you will be charged all together 220 Euros that have to be paid directly in Cannes to the agency.
