Home description

Casa Beni perches on its own 'infinity' platform on the very edge of the hillside village of Canillas de Aceituno. Newly built, the characterful 3 bedroom villa has high-specification accommodation for 6 to 8 people on two floors. The main open-plan living space includes a kitchen with every mod-con, a generous dining area with seating for 10 and a beautiful and comfortable sitting area with wood-burning fireplace and satellite TV. Outside there is a 7 X 4 metre swimming-pool on its own gated platform, a shaded al fresco eating area, a large gas BBQ and several different patios and terraces on which to relax and enjoy the spectacular views of the mountains, lake and sea.

A five minutes stroll takes you to the heart of the totally untouristy village with its tiled spring-water fonts and flower-decked winding streets. Here you can enjoy the real Spain with the sights and sounds of this Andalucian gem where everyone greets everyone, the restaurants and bars offer great value and where you might even glimpse the ladies practicing their flamenco!

The Costa del Sol/Malaga region

The Costa del Sol comprises many different aspects from sophisticated holiday resorts such as Marbella and Puerto Banus, commercial and financial centre of Malaga and quieter coastal towns that retain a flavour of their original fishing heritage. This part of the Mediterranean coastline has been a well-established destination for International tourism since the late 1950's and with its all-year-round sunshine record, broad beaches and good-value life-style, there is something to please everyone. However, only a short drive away from the coast brings you to the peace and spectacular scenery of a more traditional Spain and its more leisurely way of life, where the dazzling white-washed villages clinging to the hillsides and sights and scenery will take your breath away and lift the spirits.

At the eastern end of The Costa del Sol, between Malaga and Nerja and up in to the hills behind lies the Axarquia region. With its sub-tropical temperatures it is known for the best climate in Europe. Steeped in history having been ruled by both the Romans and the Moors it is a fascinating place to stay and explore.


Canillas de Aceituno area

Although only 20 minutes of spectacular driving away from the coast and all its amenities, the tranquil location of Casa Beni, deep in the Axarquia region, allows you to make your own pace of life, taking in the crystal air of this outstandingly beautiful area on the doorstep of the Sierra Tejada National Park. From here you can take a gentle stroll with your water-colours to admire the sights and scents of Andalusia, do a spot of bird watching, photograph a spectacular sunset or just prop yourself on a boulder with a picnic and a glass of local wine and listen to the goats' tinkling bells and the chirping of the cicadas. You can even walk up to the top of the majestic La Maroma which, at over 2,000 metres, is the highest mountain in the province of Malaga.

Venture further afield to explore the other 'white villages' in the area. Borrow a map from Casa Beni and make for Colmenar, Comares, Competa, Canillas de Albaida ..... and others that don't begin with 'C'! The enormous caves at Nerja, 25 minutes away, are a must. Antequera and Granada (with nearby skiing in the Sierra Nevada) are within striking distance.

Don't ignore Malaga which has great character and culture, a fabulous historic centre and sophisticated shops.
Within 20 minutes of Canillas you can be shopping in bustling Velez Malaga or at El Ingenio mall with its large supermarket and international retail outlets. There are also wonderful street markets on different days of the week in all the local towns and villages.

Two lovely golf courses are within 25 minutes. There is sailing on Lake Vinuela and 20 minutes away a fabulous Water Park at Torre del Mar beside the sea where there are many beach bars.
Marbella and famous Puerto Banus are within 1 1/2 hours.


How to get there

By air to Malaga airport which is only 50 minutes away from the villa.
From the airport take the N340 eastwards towards Motril, leaving the motorway at junction Kilometre 272, Velez Malaga/ Torre del Mar exit. From here take the A335 for 10 kilometres and then follow signs to Canillas de Aceituno.

Casa Beni was only finished at the end of 2006. It has three double bedrooms, two with en-suite bathrooms and one with a separate shower room. The extremely comfortable beds are of a Danish design and can be made up to provide two doubles and a twin or three twins. They are all very individually decorated and the master bedroom is on the upper floor with its own very large roof terrace and the most beautiful views. There is also a sofa bed in the living room. The large elegant living space has a romantic fireplace with wood-burner, a dining area that can seat 10 people and a charming open-plan kitchen equipped with an amazing amount of equipment and beautiful china. Decorated with style,personality and comfort, Casa Beni is fully air conditioned but has the added luxury of underfloor heating for the cooler months.
Bring along your laptop because there is now free internet access.

Further details outdoors:
Two sets of french doors open from the living-room onto a spacious covered patio where there is a mosaic table and chairs for 10 for eating al fresco. This opens up onto a very large terrace with a gas BBQ. The 7x4 metre swimming pool is set within its own gated terrace below and there are many sunbeds scattered around the various terraces to enjoy either the poolside, the shade or the sun. There is a Pingpong table and basket ball net.
