La Grande Maison was built around the year 1800 and through its over-200 year history, and renovations in the last 10 years, has lost none of its charm. With an attractive visage and ideal position sitting at the top of the grounds, it is at once imposing but also very inviting.
It has all modern comforts from dishwasher, coffee and espresso machine to satellite television and wireless internet. It is also, of course, centrally heated for the cooler months.

The Brittany / Cotes-D'Armor region
Brittany, Cotes D'Armor is a charming region in western France known for its strong local cultures and traditions. It is famous for its crepes and cidre. Conveniently from Channel Ferries and easily accessible from Paris on the SNCF trains. Summers are mild with endless blue skies and long relaxing days. Winters are cold but beautiful with occasional snowfalls. In summer you may have the opportunity to attend the unique local cultural events, called Fest Noz, where you can experience traditional French Breton dance, music, food and drink, and mix with the locals.
Just a 90 minute drive from the house is one of France's most famous landmarks- Le Mont St Michel. Closer to home are many charming medieval towns, there are the standing stones of Callac, beautiful forest walks, kayaking and hiking around Lac de Guerledan, and numerous local fishing spots. Local weekly markets are also a must see. Just over one hour and 70 km to to famous pink granite coast.

La Grande Maison is conveniently located 3 km from two villages, where you can buy your supply of baguettes and croissants from the local boulangeries.
There are also 1 large and 2 small supermarkets within a 5 minute drive. 2 km to the nearest restaurant.

Cotes D' Armor is easy to reach by car, train or air.
SNCF trains from Paris Montparnasse to St Brieuc or Guingamp run several times per day and take about 3 hours. Hire cars can be rented from the train stations (Avis or Europcar).
You can fly into Brest or Rennes and collect your hire car there.
Alternatively, you can also drive from the UK using either the Channel Tunnel or the car ferries which will bring you to St Malo or Roscoff. Check out www.brittany-ferries.co.uk.

David the owner is super responsive and very happy to advise on "things to see and do" in the area. The property itself is amazing - grand, spacious, plenty of character, a beautiful, functional country kitchen and wonderful peaceful gardens. There were 9 of us and , having traveled all the way from Australia (straight to the villa) , we felt immediately at home with a very warm welcome from a neighbor who handed over the keys and talked us through the home and it's surrounds. The immediate area is full of picturesque country-side and farm houses with some of the cutest villages nearby. Thanks David for allowing us into your beautiful French country home. |

We stayed as a group of friends in July 2011 for a week, and it was one of the best holidays I have ever had. The house is so impressive and inviting, we spent so much of the week relaxing in the gardens and while we had plans to visit the surrounding villages, we found it hard to leave the house we were so relaxed! When we did, it was so easy to find our way around the beautiful countryside and we found some wonderful restaurants that served some of the best meals, so good I am still raving about them. I would strongly recommend this house, the value for money was fantastic and the house and grounds have to be seen to be believed - it is even more impressive than the photos. I am definitely planning a trip back! |

Rental rates are per week for the house for up to 10 people.
There are no additional charges, just your weekly rate plus a refundable security deposit. All bedroom linen and towels are provided.
La Grande Maison is a smoke free house. Please no smoking inside.
Pets are welcome on the ground floor level and gardens. Please inform us at time of booking. We ask that you clean up after your pets in the garden.
A refundable security deposit of €200 is required in addition to the weekly rate.
Terms and Conditions:
1. 25% non-refundable deposit required at time of booking.
2. Balance of payment plus security deposit required six weeks prior to your booking.
3. Security deposit will be returned promptly within 14 days after your stay.
4. All payments by bank transfer only.
5. Once payment is received, in the month prior to your visit, detailed map and directions will be provided.
6. Inform us of your estimated arrival time and we will have an English speaker to meet you with the keys and to show you around the house.
7. Arrivals after 2pm departures by 11am.
