Madeira (Wood) is a beautiful verdant island. It is Portugal's "Jewel in the Atlantic". The island is a haven for anyone who enjoys walking, whether your taste runs to gentle strolls or hard core hiking. Madeira’s system of irrigation channels, known as levadas, carry water down from the mountains on gentle gradients. These levadas provide a ready-made system of trails. There are 1300 miles of them, crisscrossing the island, and they have level footpaths running along their entire length. Walkers of all ages and abilities can take in some of the finest countryside, surrounded by colourful foliage and spectacular views.
Madeira’s greatest attraction has to be the subtropical climate, sometimes known as “the island of eternal spring”. Even in winter the temperature rarely falls below 17C, and rarely exceeds 23C in high summer.Garajau has an excellent bus service to and from Funchal as well as to the next viallage Canico and its costal resort of Canico de Baixo.

Caniço de Baixo is the sort of place where you will find peace of mind. The sea and the beach are very close to you all the time, so you can swim whenever you feel like it or just seat down in one of the bars by the sea having a drink and admire the beautiful landscape surrounding you. There is an excellent bus timetable to and from Funchal city, in the case that you do not wish to drive in your holidays.
The hotels nearby offer a program of entertainment in the evenings and they welcome visitors The waters of the Garajau Natural Marine Park are a big pull for visitors looking to sample some scuba diving and diving on Madeira.The best of the scuba diving is around Canico de Baixo, and a choice of scuba diving companies hire out equipment, give scuba diving lessons, and organise excursions. The golf courses are within less than 30 minutes driving from the apartment. In the case that you wish to walk in the famous Levadas, there are some in the area.

Fly with Easyjet, Thompson, Tap. For car-hire, please enquiry about costs together with the property.Transfer to and from the airport can be arranged by us. Once you have cleared customs & collected your luggage, you will be met by your driver in the arrivals hall. Payment can be made direct to the driver. The charge is €20.00 each way.
