The Bali region
The many recommendable things to do within the region would definitely include a day-trip to Ubud, maybe stopping at the famous Tanah Lot temple for sunset on the way back (just make sure to avoid religious holidays!). Ubud is home to a lot of art and artists and the area is surrounded by mountains and rice terraces which will take your breath away. You can visit the monkey forest and do a tour at a coffee farm and visit temples (they are everywhere) -or simply go have a delicious lunch at Indus with the best view in town. You can do so many day trips from the villa, to deserted beaches north or south, other islands (like Nusa Lembongan), go diving, surfing or have your private yoga retreat.
If you like action go to Seminyak for a day of fantastic shopping, world class restaurants and spas galore. And there is the yoga...did we mention the yoga?! Bali is a mecca for the yogis with abundance of great yoga shalas, retreats and teachers.
Even if you are not into the yoga scene you probably still enjoy a good massage to optimise your state of relaxation... And the Balinese give great massage! Ask our staff for recommendations, or request to have your massage at the comfort and privacy of the villa.
There are plenty of beautiful places to go for the day, Nusa Dua / Uluwatu down south (you should definitely stop for sunset at the Rock Bar) and even islands to visit for the day, like Nusa Lebongan. You will not run out of things to do!
Just one place to avoid and that is Kuta. Just don't go there, you'll regret it if you do ;-) Unless you are 15 and on a spring-break, but in that case you probably won't be reading this.
Whether you enjoy great surf breaks, getting in the flow at a yoga class, a casual seafood barbecue at sunset on Echo Beach nearby, a massage in a luxury spa, a game of tennis at the Canggu club or a lazy lunch with an ocean breeze in the Mozaic Beach Club the local area has a lot to offer. We warn you, you will probably love the villa and the service so much you'll barely want to leave, but in case you feel like exploring you can rent a brand new scooter (remember helmet and license!) from the guy next door and go enjoy the peaceful local area around Prerenan and Echo Beach -or get a driver to chauffeur the family around. They don't mind waiting while you have dinner and are very affordable.
There are plenty of great restaurants in Canggu, Echo Beach and Old Man's just minutes away, as well as spas, shops, horse riding on the beach -whatever your heart desires. Just ask the staff to organise your activities, they will be happy to help!
And of course there is Seminyak, about 30mins away depending on traffic (which gets bad in Seminyak area, be warned). Seminyak is full of beautiful shops, world-class restaurants and night life galore. Whether you desire 24/7 chilling or exploring and action, the area is perfect base for both.

"Luxurious villa, huge pool, in a great location away from the hustle and bustle"
Our family of four (including a 5 year old and 2 year old) had a 2 week stay at Villa Samskara and it was undoubtedly the most relaxing holiday I have had since having children.
The villa is located out of the hustle and bustle of Seminyak, but close enough (15 min drive) to pop into town for a spot of shopping or night out. Canggu and Echo Beach were only a short car ride away.
The villa is light and airy, specious, very stylish and beautifully appointed. The pool is huge and the property backs on to lush jungle. I loved afternoons lying on one of the daybeds gazing up at the tree canopy. As with most Bali villa properties, the pool was not fenced so we arranged to hire a pool fence for the duration of our stay since we were travelling with yound children. The staff assisted with the pool hire and it was all in place on our arrival.
The staff were fantastic - very friendly and attentive but not intrusive. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and all our needs were taken care of. The staff were very helpful and able to arrange meals in the villa, babysitting, daytrips, reservations, transport, you name it. They were so warm and kind to our children and didn't mind them tagging along and trying to 'help' as they went about their chores. The chef (Made) is clearly formally trained and meals were of an excellent quality. Made was able to whip up anything we suggested from Indonesian to European meals. It was great having the option to eat in the villa with young children.
We had such a wonderful stay and were so well looked after by the staff. After 2 weeks of bliss it was very hard to leave! I have no hestitation in recommending this fantastic villa.

"Felt Like Royalty - Hated to Leave!"
We were greeted at the door to the Villa by the staff armed with cold towels and friendly smiles. We felt like royalty from that moment onwards. The villa is spectacularly beautiful and very private. It appears to be brand new and has clearly been built with an eye for design. While we were only a couple, the layout would be practical for additional people as all bedrooms had their own private outdoor bathroom. The fixtures and furnishings were exquisite and everything inside and out was beautiful to look at and perfectly executed. The green jungle canopy behind the villa is also fantastic. It creates a sense of privacy but also a connection to the earth as you can hear the sounds of nature. The pictures on the site here truly represent what the villa looks like. The staff of five were excellent – friendly, accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Made the chef was professionally trained at a restaurant in Jakarta, so we had him prepare our dinners in the evening and they were restaurant-class meals. The location is convenient to both Canggu, Echo Beach and Seminyak. But frankly, we spent the majority of our time at the villa enjoying the tranquillity, divine pool and lovely food. The real world? I don't think so – just a week at Villa Samskara please!

Spent a week with my family friends in this absolutely perfect escape home. The villa is a fantastic escape full of absolutely the best furnishings set in the most ideal tropical environment. From the edgeless pool to the movie room to wonderfully prepared bathrooms with thoughtful amenities everything was perfect. The staff were wonderful and attended to any need we had while serving us at all times with a smile and just the right amount of care and attention. The owners have truly capture perfection in this modern and ultra chic idyllic retreat, we will be back again many many times.

"Great Villa. Amazing Staff. Relaxing Holiday."
We stayed with a group of 5 for 5 days. The villa is modern with all the expected creature comforts done in a local Balinese style. The pool is amazing and backs onto a nice wilderness area.
The villa comfortably sleeps 6 with plenty of secluded areas for those wanting a bit of a break.
The staff are helpful and friendly.
The villa is located in a secluded quite village so expect peace and quiet and also a drive to some of the attractions like Seminyak or Echo Beach.
