La Quinta
About the home
La Quinta” is a newly completed, fully air-conditioned, contemporary four bedroom villa with its own swimming pool. The house is built on Saipem Hill within a small exclusive gated estate. Saipem is only 10 minutes drive from the beaches of Candolim and Sinquerim but it is a world away from the daily hustle and bustle of the tourist belt.
A private lane winds through the estate past the ten highly individually designed villas standing in their own gardens to the top of the hill where there are magnificent views of the Nerul river meandering slowly towards the sea past small islands;a haven for birds and wildlife.
To take advantage of its hillside position, La Quinta has been built on three levels with the aim of maximising space and light. The garden level consists of a large double bedroom with a separate dressing area and French doors onto a balcony with views of the garden.
The ground level has an open plan dining and living area. This lovely room has French doors on both sides: on the left they open onto a large covered terrace and steps to the garden and on the right they lead straight onto the swimming pool terrace. There are two bedrooms on this floor with the twin-bedded room also opening onto the swimming pool terrace. The first level consists of another spacious double bedroom. This has a walk-in dressing room and French doors onto a balcony looking onto the garden.
Use of natural flooring materials gives the house a warm feel. The furniture and fittings are of the highest standards combining style and comfort and great thought has been put into the color schemes. The bathrooms are particularly well planned and use the latest designs and fixtures. This is a superior villa and the cliché of “no expense spared” is absolutely true.
La Quinta is built according to the traditional architectural principles of “Vastu”. These dictate that “a building should be constructed in such a way as to conform to the subtle laws of nature operating in the area. The whole site should be oriented to the east and the rising sun, while its component buildings are all placed in correct relation to each other, the four directions and the site as a whole”.
Anyone staying in a house which adheres to these principles will be “blessed by the hidden lords of the land, and the sense of enjoyment and well-being will be greatly enhanced”. This was the intention of the Owners and it is our hope for all our guests who stay at La Quinta

Further details outdoors:
The house is set in ½ an acre of terraced ground. The wonderful garden which has been created is the crowning feature of the property. This is newly planted but already there is a large lawn and borders of tropical shrubs, flowers and feature rockeries. The house is screened from the internal lane by bougainvillea and flowering creepers. Steps from the sitting room terrace lead down to a furnished patio area shaded by mature trees. This is the ideal spot to relax with a book or in the evening have that quiet drink after an “exhausting day”.
Swimming Pool
The swimming pool could not be closer - through the French doors from the Sitting room and there it is! It is 3.5 metres x 13.5 metres and ranges in depth from 0.9 metres to 1.2 metres . There are two small paved sunbathing areas by the pool and the covered terrace offers plenty of opportunity for you to enjoy the outdoors without being in direct sunlight. There are separate staff quarters accessed from the side of the villa.
La Quinta has two cars and drivers included in the price. Everyday you have the freedom to visit a different beach and in the evenings sample the many restaurants. Shopping is easy too – with the driver to help with where to go and what to buy. Enjoy a touch of luxury with your own personal driver (and let someone else cope with the confusing traffic and racetrack rules of the road).
Each car will carry up to 4 passengers. Available 10 hours daily between 8 am-11 pm with a minimum of 1 hour for lunch (hours negotiated locally with the driver). Any journeys beginning or ending outside the contracted hours will carry a fixed charge of Rs 100. You pay a mileage charge to cover petrol costs.

The Goa / West India / Goa region

Goa, on the west coast of India, has over 100 Kilometres of coastline divided between secluded bays and golden sandy beaches lapped by the warm Arabian sea. Between October and April there is unbroken sunshine with temperatures that rarely drop below 91F. The pace of life is relaxed. You can spend your evenings enjoying a sunset walk along the beach or a stroll through the street markets in safety.
Although most people come to Goa to relax and unwind there is more to Goa than just its fabulous beaches. Here are a few ideas of what Goa has to offer.
The Portuguese colonised Goa for 450 years and this unique blend of Portuguese and Indian culture is evident in its architecture, mix of religions, cuisine and social structure. There are the colonial old quarters, the magnificent Mansion Houses built at the height of the Portuguese rule and Old Goa, the old capital, built as a testament to the Portuguese wealth and power. There are wildlife sanctuaries, over 400 different species of birds, market towns, a famous flea market which attracts sellers from all over India, designer shops and why not come at Christmas and the Easter Carnival and enjoy some real Goan-style dances. The exuberant Hindu festivals of Divali and Holi are celebrated with as much enthusiasm by this multi-cultural and well-integrated society.
We want to show people that there are many interesting "things to see". Above all experience Goa by being out and about. Early morning and late afternoon are perfect times for catching that magical rural scene of bullock cart and driver ambling along country lanes or the water buffaloes having their well deserved mud baths. Watch the sun rise over the river Sal, stand at Chapora harbour and select fish for that evening's meal, fresh from the boats, go to a village festival or Zatra and most of all, meet the people who are fun loving, generous and genuinely want you to have a great holiday.
The Candolim / Saipem area
Saipem, a hamlet of Candolim, is only 10 minutes drive from the beaches of Candolim and Sinquerim but a world away from the daily hustle and bustle of the tourist belt. This sleepy hamlet has long been ignored by tourists who have simply passed through en route to Panjim. Little did they know that a delightful world of slow flowing streams, secret islands, and a haven for bird and wildlife exists a stones throw a way.
A few discerning folk have spotted the beauty of this area and now a small number of holiday homes are scattered amongst the coconut trees along the banks of this slow moving tributary of the Mandovi River.
In addition to the river there are also open field and woodland habitats where you can get addicted to trying to identify the numerous birds that can be seen there.
