Home description
La Mauvaisiniere is a delightful oak-beamed stone cottage with its own lawned garden. It is 5 km from the nearest town in an area of rural charm 15 miles north of the Loire. Although renovated it retains most of its original character giving an atmosphere of the regions history. It is perfectly placed for exploring the many ancient chateaux, towns and vineyards of the region and enjoying the river.
On the ground floor of the cottage: A large lounge with exposed oak beams, original open fireplace with woodburner, dining table and chairs, sofa-bed, hi-fi system and chest of drawers.
The garden behind the cottage has trees, shrubs,garden furniture, bbq and an enclosed well. Although a drainage ditch in the garden may be a hazard for small children there is ample space for playing, relaxing and barbecues etc. There is parking space next to the cottage.

The Loire Valley / Maine-et-Loire region
The Loire Valley is one of the world's prime tourist attractions. It is steeped in history and boasts many magnificent chateaux ancient towns and other places of interest from the 600 year old Apocalypse Tapestries in Angers Castle to the equestrian displays of the Cadre Noir in Saumur, all set in a landscape of of gently rolling hills and picturesque villages dominated by France's longest river.
The region is also famous for the local Muscadet and Rose d"Anjou wines that accompany the cuisine which is traditional French with its own local specialities.
The historic chateaux of Saumur, Chinon, Usse and Azay -le-Rideau are within two hours pleasant drive along the banks of the Loire
The River Loire itself is only 20 minutes pleasant drive away and flanked by abundant vineyards where the local Muscadet and Rose wines can be tasted and purchased direct, and also the lesser known but very good red wines of the region.
Cande area
The Mediterranean influenced town of Angers, once capital of Anjou, is a 30 minute drive away and well worth visiting. Don't miss the Chateau as mentioned above or the mainly pedestrianised Old Angers "city of art and history" area where you will find the Musee de Beaux Arts in a fine Angers mansion and many more attractions. There are various museums including the Cointreau factory and museum.
Angers also has many elegant shops, a variety of stylish restaurants, bars and theatres.

The Chateau at Challan la Potherie, St Florent le Veil, a small town perched high above the Loire, included in a drive along the banks of the Loire, The isle of Behuard on the Loire with its 15th century Chapelle Notre Dame de Behuard.
Nearby sports include: Cycle Hire, indoor and outdoor swimming, Tennis (in Angrie 4km), Horse Riding Fishing, Boats can be hired in Angers. The nearest towns of Cande and Le Louroux Beconnais have restaurants, bars, supermarkets and butchers and bakers etc. Cande has a market on Monday morning.

Ferries: St Malo 100 miles, Caen 150, Cherbourg 200, Le Havre 200, Calais 330.
Airports: Angers, Rennes, Nantes about an hour away, Dinard and Tours 2 hours way.
Train: Angers 35 km, (Accessible from St Pancras via Eurostar and Tgv).

Further details indoors: The kitchen with gas cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle iron and ironing board. The kitchen has a low sloping ceiling and the remains of the original bread oven are clearly visible.
The bathroom with bath, shower head, hand-basin WC, bathroom cabinet and electric heating. Towels are not provided.
Pine stairs lead from the lounge via a landing to the bedroom which has exposed beams(some low), wooden floor, large double bed, wardrobe, dressing table, bedside cabinets and electric heating, Linen is povided for the bedroom.

A 20% deposit paid in sterling is required for advance bookings. Balance payable 6 weeks before arrival
A returnable £100.00 security deposit is required to cover breakages etc. This is returned subject to property inspection and return of keys.
Cottage available from 4.00 pm on day of arrival and should be vacated by 10.00 am on departure day.
Changeover day is Saturday
