Canaules is located in the centre of the Languedoc wine producing region of the south of France . Originally constructed during the 19th century (1850) it has previously been used as a small hotel as well as a café & a night club . Following extensive renovations & rebuilding during 2007 & the early months of 2008 this wonderfully preserved stone building has now been converted into seven luxury apartments with private off-road parking & extra large swimming pool.

Apartment 3 has 2 bedrooms ( 1 with large double bed & 1 with 2 single beds ) . There is also a comfortable sofa bed in the Living Room . This apartment has a large balcony overlooking the swimming pool . From the balcony there is also a wonderful view of the Cevennes Mountains in the distance . Because the balcony is located on the side of the building which receives most sunshine in the afternoons and evenings it is the perfect location for outdoor dining or cooking using the bbq provided .

The pool area is fully fenced & gated to ensure child safety at all times . Our pool is open from early May until mid October . The Languedoc-Roussillon region

The Languedoc region covers roughly the region between the Rhône and the Aude River, extending northwards to the Cévennes and the Massif Central. Languedoc derives from Occitan (French: langue d'oc), the language spoken in the region before French became the general usage language. Languedoc has been settled by the Greeks, Phoenicians and Romans, and invaded by the Alamanni, Vandals, Visigoths, and Saracens. Some parts of Languedoc have been part of the dominions of the kings of Aragon and the kings of Majorca; it did not come under French control until the 16th century.

Nowadays the Languedoc is most famous for it's wonderful wines . It can probably best be described as an undiscovered gem, especially in the winter. If you are looking for warmer Autumn / Early Winter days with plenty of sunshine come over an enjoy the beauty and tranquility that the Languedoc has to offer. During Summer the entire region comes alive & the wonderful coastal resorts are lively and full of tourists enjoying themselves . Nearby Anduze which is known as 'The Gateway to the Cevennes' is a thriving town during the Summer months and is well worth a visit .

Canaules-et-Argentieres

In nearby Alés you will find all the normal shops , café's , restaurants etc that you would expect to see in any city of it's size .

Canaules is a typical French village ( about 15 minutes drive from Alés ) . It is small but full of character . It is close to a number of larger villages & small towns as well as numerous vineyards - many of which welcome visitors . Guests are very welcome to come & visit our friends the Plagne family at the nearby Domaine de la Vallière and also the Chardonnaud family at Domaine les Vieux Foudres . Both vineyards are delighted to welcome our guests for tastings , tours etc .

Nimes , Montpellier & Marseilles are just 3 of the cities which are easily reached as well as the beaches on the coast or the skiing in the Cevennes. Please visit our website for detailed information about the many attractions & places worth visiting in the Languedoc region .
