It is ideally situated as a base to explore the cave paintings of Altamira, the medieval town of Santillana del Mar and the mountains and gorges of the Picos de Europa. The house has a 20 m2 south-facing patio and large windows.
It is very easily accessible by road from Santander, which can be reached by air from various European cities, or by ferry from Plymouth, beaches, hills, history, food and architecture.

About this location
The Cantabria province region
Cantabria has it all: golden beaches, snowy mountains, picturesque villages and towns and evocative fishing ports. It contains some world-famous attractions, such as the Altamira caves, or the amazing medieval town of Santillana del Mar. It is easily reachable by road, air or sea. This is Green Spain, hilly and lush, far more authentic than the Costas. However, it shares with the rest of Spain a warm and welcoming culture and a passion for good food and good wine.
Comillas is a lovely old town with cobbled streets and lots of restaurants and palaces. The Spanish king used to spend his summers here at the turn of the 20th century and this made the town fashionable among the Spanish nobility. Comillas still shows its noble heritage in its palaces and manor houses. The "Capricho", by Gaudi (of Sagrada Familia fame) is a particularly enchanting example of the surprising architecture that can be found in Comillas.
The surrounding area is a perfect combination of golden beaches, green hills, forests, picturesque villages and snowy mountain peaks.
