The rental accommodation occupies part of finca Finca Deulosal which is a fine 300 year old stone country house set in 5 acres of orchards and farm land. The house has been modernised over recent years, but the ancient character of stonework and vaulted ceilings has been retained to provide modern facilities in a traditional setting.

The house is relatively isolated, but is close to wide sandy beaches along the north eastern coast of Mallorca and within easy driving distance of several local villages and numerous restaurants and bars. However the main attraction (based on the opinion of guests who regularly return to Finca Deulosal) is the option of lounging around the pool , sitting in the orchard and eating BBQ food purchased from local markets .... but also within easy driving range are lively coast resorts and beautiful ancient towns like Pollença.

To the rear of the house, past the barbecue area, is situaded a lovely orchard. Here you can pick your own peppers - red, green, yellow and chillies. Help yourself to lush tomatoes on the vine and aubergines. You will find melons, and watermelons almost too big to lift!

Enjoy this leisurely stroll in the sunshine through the grounds of Deulosal.

About this location

The Balearic Islands region

Mallorca is a small country with a wide variety of characteristics. Most visitors to the island head for the imposing city of Palma, the lively south-western coastal resorts (like Magaluf), the smaller resorts huddling round the small inlets on the eastern coast, and the northeastern coastal towns like Puerto Pollenca and Can Picafort.

That having been said, possibly the most impressive region is the north coast dominated by the Tramuntana Mountains (almost twice the height of any UK hills) and the hillside villages favoured by the rich and famous, but the majority of the island is virtually flat and devoted to farming. This is the real Mallorca where every small town has a market selling local produceand numerous bars and restaurants serving local food and wine. The attractions of inland Mallorca have been recognised by many holidaymakers who have ventured away from the main tourist areas over the years, and account for the popularity of houses such as Deulosal as ideal locations to enjoy the climate in peace.

The island has a long and interesting history and numerous other attractions. In this respect it is relevant to note that anything about which you might have read is within easy reach. Mallorca has an excellent motorway network that enables rapid access to most areas, albeit you do need to slow down on the country roads! In consequence the lovely town of Pollenca(with its Roman history) is a possible location for morning coffee.

Can Picafort

Can Picafort, like the adjacent town of Puerto d'Alcudia, is a typical holiday resort that stretches approximately 2 miles alongside wide sandy beaches where you can have some space of your own.

There is the familiar range (abundance) of holiday attractions and a wide variety of friendly bars and restaurants.

However, there is a local secret bypassed by the vast majority of holidaymakers .... immediately behind the coastal road between Can Picafort and Puerto d'Alcudia you can find Albufera. Surpringly this is an area of wetland: although it may not look special from the road, it is easy to become entranced by the birds that live there permanently or use it as a staging post as they migrate. There are special hides for viewing and a good visitor centre. Within 200m from the road you can (just about always) see a colony of night herons as they sit in bushes alongside a canal that drains the water from the wetlands into the sea. Deulosal is very close to the fringe of these wetlands.
