Home description

In a tiny hamlet of half a dozen houses perched on the hillside 2km from Campanet, Villa S’Alqueria makes a good first impression with its’ electronic wrought iron gates and a gravel driveway leading up to the shady, vine covered parking area.
The minute you open the kitchen door to the rear terrace and get your first glimpse of the pool, framed by an exquisite backdrop of rural countryside and the distant Tramuntana Mountains.

A door from the kitchen leads out to a partially covered rear terrace, where there is a superb purpose built barbecue area, with to the side, a cobble sun terrace and an attractive sandstone fountain, fringed by pretty flowered borders and lovely tree shaded gardens.
From the patio, a couple of steps lead up to the superb 10m x 4.5m pool with Roman steps into the shallow end and sensational views! On one side of the pool, dwarf palms and almond trees fringe a remarkably luxuriant lawn and here you will also find a convenient outside shower and a fragrant lemon tree.

The pool has a depth of 1m at the shallow end and 2m at the deep end.

The Mallorca/Majorca region

Away from the island’s bustling capital Palma and the frenetic atmosphere of its nearby ‘high rise’ resorts, a startling change of pace and scenery takes over. Fertile fields dotted with windmills turning lazily in the breeze, give way to rolling countryside covered in olive and almond groves punctuated by vineyards and small, sun-bleached villages. Mediaeval monasteries and castles perch ‘quixotically’ atop pine clad mountains and look out over the azure sea that encircles the island’s 400 km of beautiful coastline, most of which is surprisingly untouched by signs of mass tourism and remains virtually unknown to all but a few of Mallorca’s many visitors.

Campanet area

Situated on the edge of the green and wooded foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains, the village of Campanet’s one claim to fame is its amazing limestone caves, said to house the longest stalactite in the world! It also makes a good starting point for an exhilarating drive to the mountain top Monastry at Lluc via the picturesque village of Caimari.
Campanet has no less than three bakeries, as well as a well-stocked supermarket and a delicatessen. The sunny church square has a number of simple bars and small shops and it’s a pleasant spot to linger over a morning coffee and croissant before heading off for the day. Of an evening there are also two or three bars that serve authentic tapas or simple meals, but the village has surprisingly remained a peaceful backwater, virtually untouched by tourism.
Perched twin like atop a neighbouring hill and just 5 mins drive away, Buger (pronounced Boohair) is Mallorca's smallest municipality and holiday accommodation is still rare. Having received enthusiastic feedback about this drowsy little town from customers staying nearby, we were delighted to be offered a house on the outskirts. In the shady streets surrounding its magnificent church life continues at a measured pace, much as it was before Mallorca became a holiday destination but a bank, a small weekly market, a general store, a simple café/bar and an excellent baker provide the 'necessities of life'.
Old Pollenca with a good choice of shops and restaurants is no more than a 15 minute drive. However for a truly memorable occasion, book a table at a small hotel in the nearby village of Binibona where gourmet food is served on a candlelit terrace. If you don’t want to drink and drive there’s even a local taxi! Ask our rep. for details, she knows the hotel and the taxi driver!
For serious shoppers, the town of Inca, famous for its leather goods, is a 10 minutes drive and from here you can also catch a train to Palma.

Guestbook for Villa S’Alqueria

We have never been disappointed with a Freelance villa on Majorca, but Villa S'Alqueria was the best of the lot. Great situation and the facilities of the villa were wonderful - everything had been thought of. We were seven adults and everyone had a wonderful holiday. The Quigley' s, Aug.

This was an excellent second holiday with Freelance to Mallorca, both have been excellent. Regarding Villa S'Alqueria, I don't think your description/photographs do it justice for the following reasons:
1. The view from front towards Campnet/Buger and the coast is amazing.
2. The covered terrace/barbecue area at the back is perfect for a shady breakfast/lunch and BBQ with lovely views of the pool and mountains.
Thanks for a lovely villa. Mr Spowage, July

Villa S'Alqueria was an excellent villa catering for our every need. Rating - extremely private, peacful - conducive to a very relaxing holiday. Standard of villa, beyond description & expectations. Would definitely return. Would like to book in the winter to take advantage of log fires & very homely atmosphere of the villa. The Parkers, July

Villa beautiful & v. clean. Views fantastic and v. private & quiet. Anne was brilliant - many thanks.
First rate holiday has by all. Highly recommended. Ian and Kate
