Ca'n Cedes, Campanet, Mallorca

2 kms from the narrow shady streets of tiny hilltop Campanet, with its weekly market, baker, shops and café bars serving simple meals and tapas, Ca'n Cedes is also just a pleasant short stroll from the entrance to one of the best restaurants in the area, offering fine dining or simple lunchtime p'amb oli (the Mallorcan equivalent of an open sandwich) and served on its terrace, accompanied by a glass of chilled white wine, it makes a pleasant way to pass an afternoon. The area is perfect for walkers and cyclists with many way marked paths and tracks.

The sweet scent of jasmine fills the air as you pass the pool area and approach this honey coloured pretty stone Villa, scenically tucked at the foot the south facing pine clad foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains. Erstwhile a small Mallorquin Finca, Ca'n Cedes has been lovingly converted into a comfortable, private and utterly tranquil retreat where the only sounds that interrupt the silence are the music of the sheep bells and soft birdsong. The Finca itself is set in several hectares of fruit orchard where oranges, lemons, clementines and figs flower and ripen in turn providing a succession of fruit for the table.

Inside, beneath the wood beamed ceilings, the Villa layout makes for easy living with all four bedrooms leading from the spacious open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area. The kitchen, equipped with every amenity you would expect, dishwasher, microwave, gas hob, electric oven and large fridge freezer, has marble surfaces topping wood cupboards and is separated from the polished wood dining table by a breakfast bar. French doors open to the favoured summer dining spot, a lovely vine covered terrace with views over the beautiful countryside. Back inside, the sitting area is comfortably furnished with squashy sofas, a coffee table and a TV with satellite reception (restricted English reception).

At this end of the Villa is a romantically furnished master bedroom with a queen sized bed and ensuite full bathroom. A single bedroom with a ¾ sized bed shares the family bathroom with the twin bedroom and second single bedroom, again with a ¾ sized bed both of which lead from a small hallway by the dining area.

Windows and French doors and a door from a small hallway at the rear ensure a natural cooling flow of air in the living area, keeping the temperature down during the summer. Central heating and an open fire provide warmth for the occasional cooler evening, early and late season.

Across a paved sun terrace the sparkling 8m x 4.50m tiled swimming pool (depth 1.7m) and its surrounding sun terraces, furnished with sun loungers and umbrella, is fenced and a lockable gate gives piece of mind to those with toddlers.

Tucked away in the orchard at the side of the Villa can be found a covered barbecue with ceramic sink and a solid stone table on the barbecue terrace, but if you should happen to prefer to do your barbecuing by the pool, or on the sun terrace or at any other spot, the owners have also thoughtfully provided a portable barbecue.

Ca'n Cedes, will have tremendous appeal to both couples and families with children who wish to immerse themselves in truly beautiful Mallorcan countryside with easy access to the lovely beaches in Pollenca Bay. Campanet has an excellent sports centre with tennis courts to hire and its just a 10 mins drive to the Pollenca Golf Course.

NB All bedrooms have air conditioning - 10 hours per day air conditioning included in the price.

The Balearic Islands region

Away from the island's bustling capital Palma and the frenetic atmosphere of its nearby "high rise" resorts, a startling change of pace and scenery takes over. Fertile fields dotted with windmills turning lazily in the breeze, give way to rolling countryside covered in olive and almond groves punctuated by vineyards and small, sun-bleached villages. Medieval monasteries and castles perch quixotically atop pine clad mountains and look out over the azure sea that encircles the island's 400 km of beautiful coastline, most of which is surprisingly untouched by signs of mass tourism and remains virtually unknown to all but a few of Mallorca's many visitors.

With fabulous white sand beaches and historic towns of Pollenca, Campanet & Inca to name but a few, placed on the north west of the island of Mallorca sits below the inspiring Tramuntana mountains. Here the island of Mallorca retains a leisurely atmosphere reminiscent of bygone days with many small villages virtually untouched by tourism, where you can find a sunny Church square to join the locals in watching the world go by.

In the south of Mallorca, pretty harbour sides and sophisticated yachting resorts hide in sandy coves protected by pine clad headlands. Inland, below splendid monasteries perched on lofty mountain tops, life still beats to the rhythm of rural Mallorcan life.

With 6 Michelin starred restaurants, bodegas producing quality Mallorca wines, walking and cycle routes and world class golf courses, Mallorca is amongst the most sophisticated destinations of the Med.

On our Mallorca website you will find seaside apartments and a selection of individual Mallorca villas for rent ranging from centuries old farmhouse to neat little Villas near the beach

Campanet

El Pont Roma, the roman bridge on the edge of the town is living evidence of Pollencas Roman origins and subsequently each generation has left its mark without overwhelming this delightful small town. In this way, Pollenca has learned to accept and adapt to tourism without losing its soul and where, these days, at the vibrant Sunday morning market spilling out over the Placa Major, locals and tourists alike mingle between the wide varieties of stalls. Wandering through the narrow cobbled streets you will find many lovely old churches plus numerous small art galleries and handicraft shops. A pause for coffee and a pastry is recommended before climbing the tree lined Calvari steps - there are 365 of them, one for every day of the year - amply rewarded at the summit by panoramic views across to the northernmost tip of the island from the Calvari church! If you are here during Easter, then you will be lucky enough to witness the moving procession on Good Friday, when a figure of Christ is removed from a cross and carried down the steps by torchlight. The months of August and September have much to offer music lovers as Pollenca hosts its annual classical music festival with many concerts and at any time of year, bon viveurs will find a number of outstanding restaurants as well as small tapas bars tucked away behind the impressive central square.

Outside the town the rolling countryside is excellent for walkers and for a day by the sea, Puerto Pollenca with its lovely beaches, is only a 5-minute drive away. Nearby there's a good but hilly 9-hole golf course.

We are so pleased you enjoyed Ca'n Cedes and its beautiful location.I am sorry our Information File was not ready for you at the Villa, unfortunately they do sometimes disappear, they must be that good. I'm sure that our agent would have explained the system had you contacted him, he is happy to help with any local information. I hope you did work out the security system finally!
