The Stirlingshire region

An ideal location with excellent road and rail links to all the major cities in Scotland. For unrivalled and stunning scenery Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park are within easy reach with breathtaking walks, fishing, hill walking and mountaineering. Why not the beaches and quaint fishing villages of Fife or book a round of golf at St Andrews. Visit the lochs and glens of Perthshire then treat yourself to afternoon tea at the iconic world renowned Gleneagles Hotel. You may like to venture further afield to the rugged scenery of the Highlands or sail to some of the idyllic Hebridean Islands.

The ancient town of Stirling is a few minutes away from the steading, with its wonderful and beautifully restored 16th Century Castle dominating the landscape and steeped in its often bloody history. Wander through the outstanding architecture of the old town where history comes alive. Stirling city centre has a plethora of coffee shops and restaurants as well as a diverse choice of shops to satisfy all tastes.A ten minute drive will take you to the Wallace Monument dating back to the Victorian era. The 246 step trek to the top is made worthwhile by the spectacular views of Stirling, Bridge of Allan and the surrounding countryside. From here you can look down on the University of Stirling with its buzzing Arts Centre where the backdrop of the Ochil Hills completes the picture.

It is difficult to know how to respond to such a review but we would like to say how genuinely sorry we are that the reviewer did not have the kind of experience she was planning. In order to respect the guest's privacy it would be inappropriate to go into detail but we did endeavour to make her stay a positive one, including refunding part of her booking (contrary to standard practice).
We take enormous pleasure in welcoming people of all cultures and nationalities into our home and to do everything we can to make our guests' stay all that they may wish it to be so we hope that site users will take into account the accurate description and clear photographs.

With best wishes
