The house has two wings with the kitchen/informal dining area is set at the functional and physical centre. In the west wing are most of the bedrooms and majority of the reception rooms are in the South wing, which has proven to be an excellent layout for entertaining with the minimum disruption to people who wish to sleep/relax.

Note: The house is split level and there are three steps down to the main reception rooms in the South Wing.

In true English farmhouse style the cooker is a 2 oven oil fired Aga and off the kitchen is a pantry, utility room fully equipped with Miele appliances and an informal dining area that can seat 10 people.

The main reception rooms have a flexible layout with the lounge extending to approximately 10m and the linked dining room 6m. Both have vaulted ceilings and are dual aspect. There is a pool table and table tennis table available, although if not required the table tennis table is stored in one of the outbuildings. The dining room will accommodate at least 10 people.

Both the lounge and the dining room are equipped with high efficiency log burners which make a great focal point on chilly winter evenings. (logs supplied for use during the stay).

Further details outdoors

Both the lounge and dining room open onto the lower decking, adjacent to the pond. The kitchen/informal dining open onto the upper patio within which there is a feature water channel and low level water fall. The upper patio is edged on one side by a wide flower border and the other side of the water feature is a herb garden.

A hot tub will be available for use from July 2015 (updated 14th May 2015)

To the South of the property is a 1/4 acre private garden area edged to the east by a line of cherry trees and to the west there is a viewing platform. North of the dwelling is approximately 4 acres of a combination of garden, meadow, chalk land wood and orchard.

Note: The well stocked pond is up to 1m deep and is a hazard to very young children. A cover is provided and should not be removed if there are young children in the party.

Further details

If there are very young children in the party the owners must be informed in writing, on the booking form, at the time of booking so that the children's safety near the pond can be ensured.

There will be a returnable security/breakage deposit of £400 required. The property will be available from 4pm on the day of arrival, although upon prior request a check in time of 2pm will be accommodated where practical.

Guests should vacate the property by 10am on the morning of departure.

"Perfect for our Hen weekend"

Very hospitable friendly owner. Quaint cosy property with pretty garden and countryside-feel. Cambridge is less than 10 minutes drive away. Cooking is on an Aga. Sort out your heating requirements beforehand as can be chilly when the heating is not on (October). Great for a gathering of friends - we had a marvelous time.

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and I am pleased to confirm that the heating system has now been replaced with a 100% new system, which is very responsive. I look forward to seeing you again. Best Wishes John

"Great place to stay!"

Five of us were looking for a quiet place in the countryside, but within easy cycling distance of Cambridge, for three weeks. The Keepers Cottage fit the bill perfectly - roomy, quiet, beautiful surroundings. Furnishings were complete, with the feel of a real home; the presence of both dishwasher and laundry was a real plus. We would have no hesitation in returning!

I am happy that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for the excellent review. We hope to see you again.

"Fantastic holiday property"

Keepers Cottage is a fantastic property. It is spatious and presented to a very high standard, with exceptional grounds and within easy access of Cambridge city centre. Most of all, it represented fantastic value for money. I can not recommend it highly enough.

I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and thank you for both leaving the property in such good condition and your excellent review. We hope to see you again soon.
