The conservatory has lovely views of garden and open country. It is snug and has every facility. There is a fully fitted kitchen, comfy lounge with TV/dvd and double sofa bed, and a bedroom with fitted wardrobes etc Fluffy towels on heated rail in the luxury shower room, and sparkling white linen is the norm. We are helpful hosts who welcome you with homemade baking and can help you plan trips and find your way around. The nearby Suffolk and Essex villages are often underrated and Clare, Long Melford and Finchingfield, to name but a few, should not be missed. Of course you can take in Cambridge and London too. Our local pub The Bluebell Hempstead has home cooked food, log fires and live music each week. Dogs and horses are welcome.

The Cambridgeshire region
This is a beautiful part of England typified by its thatched cottages, half-timbered houses and village greens. There are many splendid churches built during the affluent medieval times when wool production bought great riches to the area.
Gently rolling hills with " big skies" remind one of the work of local artists of the past like John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough.
Cambridge, rich in academic history, with its dreaming spires and meandering rivers is a must- try a chauffered punt.
Saffron Walden is our closest town, full of history with its ruined castle, ancient buildings, museum and beautiful church.Close by Audley End house is open to the public and has beautiful gardens too.
With easy access to the main London train line you can easily enjoy a day / evening in London and be home for supper!
Festivals etc:- Thaxted Music Festival ( Gustav Holst lived here) Cambridge Folk Festival, Evening picnic concerts at Audley End , Thaxted Morris weekend. Rowing Week in Cambridge. Carnivals and concerts all over the area throughout the summer including open air Shakespeare.
Visit:- Castle Hedingham ( a near intact Norman keep) Churches at Lavenham, Long Melford, Thaxted Radwinter, Hempstead. Finchingfield quintessential village with pond and green ( and pubs) Audley End House, Cambridge, Sudbury, Newmarket ( Britich Racing Museum & regular race meetings) London, Colchester( historic Roman town) Shopping at designer outlet ( Freeport) etc
Antique centres -many especially Clare and Halstead.
Many local high quality eateries and gourmet pubs to suit all pockets
Birdwatching at Wicken Fen, Lackford Lakes, Fowlmere and local small reserves & woodlands

"Cosy and Quiet Retreat!"
We had a lovely stay in this apartment. Jess and Martyn thought of EVERYTHING: we arrived to freshly made scones and bread before being shown around the studio itself. It is immaculately clean and comes with everything that you should need. We did not stay long so could not explore the area properly, but local pubs had excellent food at dinner time and we also had easy access to Cambridge. A car is advised however. I WILL be staying here again, what a lovely little retreat to go to for a short break. Thank you very much the Longs!

"Everything I wanted!"
This is a delightful place run by kind and helpful hosts. The Studio is clean and bright with wonderful views over the garden to the countryside beyond. Plenty of walks from the property and an easy drive to pretty villages and Cambridge. Thanks you so much, Jess and Martyn, for making me feel and home and explaining the origins of the name "Cowslip"!

GOOD: Clean, sizable and comfortable annex to the main house. Well equipped kitchen, beautiful & spacious garden, lovely bathroom, bright conservatory. Fantastic owners who are very helpful and friendly. Quiet, picturesque surroundings with lovely walks. Excellent local pub! OTHER: A bit remote (which could also be a good thing if that's what you're looking for)

"Wonderful! Great accommodation, lovely owners, amazing breakfasts!"
We stayed in the bed and breakfast which was comprised of two bedrooms (one with a seating area) and a bathroom. The rooms were clean and extremely well equipped with a small fridge, kettle, microwave, crockery, coffee, tea and biscuits! The beds were really comfortable and there was a lovely view from the windows. There was a comfy settee and tv in the spacious double room. The bathroom was perfect with a very nice shower. We arrived on Halloween night to find Halloween cupcakes, scones and jam waiting for us! A lovely welcome! Breakfast was the highlight of our day! The owner Jess made sure that we had everything that we desired and even provided special foods for our daughter who has type 1 diabetes. The cooked breakfast was delicious, but Jess also offered freshly baked bread, croissants, cereal and many other choices. The breakfast was served in cosy warm conservatory with beautiful views of the garden. The house is set in lovely gardens in a very nice village. Jess and Mart gave us plenty of suggestions of places to eat and suggested some great days out. I cannot speak highly enough of the owners, they are lovely, kind people who give great customer service and really know how to look after guests. We will certainly be going back again and sending our friends there. Thanks so much Jess & Mart!

"Wonderful Relaxing Stay"
We stayed at The Studio in August for three days for a rare break away from the children. Jess and Mart were wonderfully welcoming with home made scones, bread and other goodies laid out for our arrival. The Studio was perfect for a break away from it all, with a lovely garden, pretty views and it was a great location for country walks and pubs. We also really enjoyed exploring the local area, especially Saffron Walden (fantastic butcher and market) and Cambridge. Thank you Jess and Mart for being such great hosts. We'd love to visit you again if we can.
