About the home

Cambria is located exactly halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco, just five miles from historic Hearst Castle. Some activities include golf and wine tasting, fine dining, driving scenic PCH, shopping/antiquing, ocean activities (kayaking, tidepooling), nature walks and local wildlife (elephant seals, whale watching, etc.).

The house sits on a hill with beautiful ocean views and amazing sunsets. Moonstone beach is a short walk away (5 blocks) with a boardwalk you can stroll (or jog) on along the coastline. We are always delighted by the sea life we encounter and the dramatic coastline. The quaint village of Cambria and its excellent restaurants, antique shops and boutiques are less than a mile from the house.

The house is ideal for families or groups with a great room with ocean and forest views through every window. It feels a bit like being in a treehouse. The main area lends itself to socializing and enjoying long leisurely meals including wines from the region while watching the sunset over the ocean.

The house is an arts and crafts style with a fantastic layout and all the modern conveniences.

The gourmet kitchen is open plan with hardwood floors, granite counter tops and a bar area with bar stools. Ideal for cooking and socializing at the same time.

There is a dinning table for 8 with ocean views and a smaller breakfast nook that seats 4.

The living room is also part of the great room with ocean views and there is a gas fireplace, a large flat screen television including Satellite and DVD player with a selection of movies available for your enjoyment. We recently installed a Wii.

The balcony has a BBQ and outdoor table and chairs. You can sit outside in the morning with your coffee or in the evening with your wine enjoying the sights, sounds and freshness of the ocean below.

The master bedroom has a California King size bed, a gas fireplace, flat screen tv, awalk in closet and an ensuite bathroom that includes 2 sinks, a very large shower and a jacuzzi bathtub.

Downstairs there are 2 additional bedrooms with Queen Size Beds (same size as UK King) Downstairs there is also a bathroom with a bath/shower. We have recently added a football table downstairs in the open area. There is also a sofa that converts into a queen size bed.

The fourth bedroom/loft has a Queen Size bed. One wall of this room does have a bit of an opening like an indoor window, hence we call it a bit of a loft. But there are four walls and a closing door.


The house has a small private garden and a 3 car garage.

There are two full bathrooms and one toilet. The master bath has a very large shower and a jacuzzi bathtub. The bathroom downstairs has a bath with a built in shower, sink and toilet.

This vacation home is on Ashby Lane, probably the premier street on all of Happy Hill.

The Cambria area

Cambria is know as where the pines meet the sea. It is a beautiful town where if you are in the town centre you almost feel as though you are in a mountain town. There are lots of pine trees and we regularly see deer, racoons, and even wild turkeys in our front garden. The town has many excellent restaurants and fun bars. There is a farmers market where you can pick up amazing local produce, wines and food.

The ocean provides you with endless activities, whale watching, tide pooling, kayaking, nature walks along the East west Ranch and Moonstone beach.

Wine tasting in the region is very popular as many of the vineyards are award winning. There are dozens of vineyards within 20 miles of Cambria along Highway 46.

Five miles north of Cambria is the famous Hearst Castle.

Just a few miles north of Cambria in San Simeon is an elephant seal colony. Hundreds of elephant seals basking in the sun, males fighting for dominance, some just landing on the shores. It is an awesome experience, completely natural and wild.

“Wonderful Weekend in Cambria” We had a wonderful relaxing weekend in Cambria. We were lucky to have very nice weather the last weekend in October. Cambria is a lovely town with many things to do and quite a few nice dining options. During our visit we enjoyed seaside walks, seal watching, and lounging at the beach. This vacation rental was perfect for our family. The sweeping views of the ocean and valley from the kitchen, living room, and deck are amazing. The location was perfect for us. It was about a 10 minute walk to the beach and 2-3 minute drive to the beach and to town. We really like this location in Cambria because of the nice views from being up on the hill. The home is very clean and modern. We really enjoyed relaxing in the living room of this cozy home. We loved that the kitchen was very well equipped with nice dishes and everything you need to cook nice meals. The owner, Patty, was very friendly and easy to deal with in booking the home.

“Wonderful place” What can I say. This was a last minute booking and we didn't know what to expect. When we arrived in Cambria, we where amazed. What a beautiful town, with great eateries. The sea and beach lovely and clean, and if your lucky enough to catch the seals swimming in the sea, Then there's the house we booked, it was amazing out of this world. There was three couples and a child and the house accommodated for all our needs, excellent location just outside town and a few minutes from the beach. Would definitely stop there again if we ever cross that part of America again Also excellent communication with patty the owner, instant response to Any query
