The East Sussex region

This self

catering holiday cottage in Sussex is opposite miles of clean sandy beach and

rolling sand dunes at Camber Sands. To the East is the historic Sussex town of

Rye with its wonderful winding cobbled streets, full of interesting shops and

many restaurants which will serve fresh fish caught locally at Rye Harbour. For

those that don’t want to cook whilst staying at this house there is the Beach

Bistro Restaurant at the Gallivant Hotel, boasting a roster of incredible

seasonal food created by the acclaimed Trevor Hambley.

There are a

great selection of country pubs and farm shops locally, which showcase

brilliantly the local produce; this area is known for Romney Marsh lamb, but

also has a fantastic array of locally grown fruit and veg, plus locally

produced wines and beers.

As this coastal

home is next to the sea there are many opportunities for other activities in

the area when you’re looking for a day out.

The area offers a good variety of water sports including windsurfing,

sailing and canoeing and it is also possible for those seeking a more adventurous

sport to try kite surfing or you could try water skiing on the inshore lake at

For the

golfers staying there are famous links courses at Rye and Littlestone, which

will challenge all abilities.

The area is

predominantly flat and makes excellent cycling, or alternatively there are a

selection of forest and coastal walks for all abilities.

inland this part of East Sussex and Kent has much to offer the holidaymaker

whilst they enjoy their stay. With

famous gardens to explore and historic castles to visit you will not be short

of activities for the duration of your stay in Camber. A short drive away is

the Chapel Down Vineyards – which is the home of one of England’s leading

premium wine producer and is well worth a visit. With tours and wine tasting available as well

as a stunning restaurant, ‘Richard Phillips’, it is a great destination. Chapel

Down’s renowned Sparkling White Wine was served at the 2011 Royal Wedding.

For children

of course the Sussex beach in Camber Sands is the main attraction, but if you

want an alternative, the Kent and Sussex Railway and Romney Hythe and Dymchurch

Railway are glorious steam railways perfect for both children and adults alike.

If you fancy a day of amusements, crazy golf and fairground attractions,

Hastings is 25 minutes drive or a short train ride and makes a great excursion.

For the

garden enthusiast Kent and East Sussex have many wonderful gardens to visit. Many

an hour can be spent discovering these and enjoying homemade tea and cakes in

their tea rooms. Gardens include Hole

Park in Rolvenden, Great Dixter in Northiam and the famous Sissinghurst Castle

Gardens in Sissinghurst; all of which are within a short distance.
