About this location
The Provence region
La Provence... where do I start? There's so much to tell about this wonderful part in the South of France. There's the way of life of the local people, their pastis during a game of petanque. There are the lavender and sunflower fields, the smell of wild herbs, The local markets where you can find all this delightful and tasty fruit and vegetables. The smell and taste of a freshly baked baguette (=local bread) savoured with a glass of local wine and a chunk of cheese or with olives, etc.
If you are in search of more cultural things, You can visit the historic centers of Arles, Avignon, Les Baux de Provence, Saint-Rémy de Provence, Nîmes, le Pont du Gard, Marseille, Montpellier, etc. All within one-hour drive of Arles.
What is the best season? Hard to tell. In summer it is dry and hot (30°C and more), in spring and autumn, it's less hot (25°C), but it might rain a bit. In winter it might freeze or it might be early spring, hard to tell.
Arles, Vincent van Gogh discovered this picturesque town more than a 100 years ago and made it famous, The magic is still there, the sunflower fields in early summer, the clear blue skies, ...
Arles has a long history, and was of considerable importance in the Roman province of Gallia Narbonensis. It possessed a number of monuments, including an amphitheatre, triumphal arch, Roman circus, theatre, and a full circuit of walls. Part of all this is still there and can be visited. The town also has an outstanding museum of ancient history, the Musée de l'Arles et de la Provence antiques.
Arles became renowned as a cultural and religious centre during the late Roman Empire. It was also a key location for Roman Christianity and an important base for the Christianization of Gaul. A remainder of this is the church of Saint-Trophime.
Today, Arles is a quiet, small town and the economical center of the Camargue, famous for its rice and salt cultures.
The Arlésiens like to party. There are numerous festivities throughout the year. The most important ones are the Easter Feria (in April) and the Rice Feria (mid September).
Don't miss the local market on Wednesday and on Saturday mornings!
The Camargue is a flat area, so ideal for everyone in the family to discover the region by bike or on foot.

"Wonderful apartment, fabulous holiday!"
My husband and I along with our 18 month old just spent a most wonderful week at this apartment. The owner, Ann, was very prompt in answering any queries before the booking and also provided me with all the clarifications that I needed. Since our days were fixed, she even went to the extent of changing some of their usual rules pertaining to letting out the apartment, to suit our requirements. We drove to the place and were able to find it without any difficulty, thanks to the owner's pictorial directions and other elaborate instructions. And the apartment itself, was a joy to behold!! It was well furnished and had everything that one could hope for. I had absolutely no problems preparing meals for my little one and as Ann had promised, we found the place to be extremely kid friendly. We had a small problem with hot water, which was very promptly addressed. The residential complex is extremely secure and we went for long walks in the evening, and my daughter was delighted to see horses, ducks and swans. The swimming pool was also adequate. The location is very convenient to explore Arles, Nimes, St, Remy de Provence, Marseille etc. Overall, we couldn't have hoped for a better location for a holiday in the Provence region.

"Nice place to stay"
Apt was nice and clean. We were 4 adults, 4 small children, a dog and we fit ok. It is kid and dog-friendly. WIFI worked well. It's a large vacation village - very safe. In late Apr the pool was not yet in use. Served as a good base for taking day trips throughout Provence.
I have only one complaint. We opted to self-clean instead of paying for the cleaning service and even though we spent several hours cleaning the apartment they informed us that it didn't meet their expectations (even though there were no detailed written expectations) so we were charged the full cleaning price. This was disappointing, but otherwise the place served us well and the owner was very responsive.
Thank you for your nice review which we honestly did not expect based on the end cleaning discussion we had.
We are very sorry that we misunderstood each other on the level of cleanness expected at the end of the stay from the guests that decide not to take the end cleaning option. It is very important for us that the next guests receive a perfect impression at their arrival. We appreciate your feedback and we will make sure that the level of expectation is more clearly stated.
