Villa Montebello - an old former farmhouse, which has been lovingly restored and equipped - is overlooking the Versilia Coast and the mountains of the Apuan Alps from its lofty position.
The Villa is awaiting now its first guests in spring 2014 after having been totally and intensivly reconstructed during a period of the last 2 and a half years: everything is totally new or newly furnished besides the original facade, the thick stone walls, the visible beautiful old chestnut beams and the old hand made cotto floors.
The former sheep and goat barns have been transformed into a Pool House and a roofed outdoor living room, both with old stone walls and chestnut beams. Old Tuscan tradition of the 19th century meets tecnical standards of nowadays.
The position of the villa is remarkable, indeed: You will have all options for interesting or relaxing holidays, and the choice opens up a wide range:
- Vibrant beach life at the Versilia Coast (8 km)
- Cultural Life in medieval towns and cities such as Pietrasanta (5 km), Lucca (30 km), Florence (95 km)
- Sight seeing tours to Pisa, Siena, Carrara or boat tours to the Cinque Terre in the province of Liguria (35 km)
- Shopping tours to Forte dei Marmi (11 km) with its top boutiques such as Prada, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli...
- Night life in discothecs in Forte dei Marmi or in Lido di Camaiore
- Tranquillity in your private resort, only a few kilometers and a few minutes far from all above.
The villa offers a lot of space, about 300 sqm in total (roughly 3.300 square feet) on 3 floor levels:
- Separate Pool House with washing machine,
- Courtyard with cypress and old olive trees,
- Separate Roofed Outdoour Living in side building,
- Dining tables al fresco,
- Large beautiful Tuscan kitchen and indoor eating space (45 qm), main building
-1 double room with ensuite bathroom and private terrace to the garden, main building
- Lawn, palm trees and bougainvillas
- 2 double bedooms,
- 1 bathroom,
- 1 double bedroom with large ensuite bathroom
- 2 double bedrooms with single beds (in total 4),
- 1 bathroom and
- 1 spacious living room with TV, DVD, MP3-Player, library, fire place
All beds are queensize beds besides 2nd floor (there are 4 single beds),
partly as romantic four poster beds. Bed linen fine egyptian cotton.
All of the 5 bathrooms are offering glass cabin showers, WC and bidet,
The house is not suitable for kids under 10 years of age since the window sills are very low in the upper floors and because of steep stairs.
We are in the country side. Barking dogs and some nioise of the chicken yard from the neighbours around the house should not bother you.

About this location
The Tuscany region
The region at the upmost northern part of Tuscany - close to the border to Liguria and Cinque Terre - is well known for its marbel manufactures, sculptures and art.
You can breathe history, dating back to the 16th century: good old Michelangelo was working on his marble sculptures in the romantic little town of Pietrasanta, nearly 500 years ago. And the spirit is still there...
In the wild 50ties former Fiat boss Agnelli - born here in Forte dei Marmi - brought glamour and elegance to the city of Forte dei Marmi. And this glamour lasts until today:
You can mingle there with the rich, important and beautiful people or go on a shopping tour to the hippest boutiques, such as Gucci, Prada, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana and hundreds more.
Wednesday and sunday there is a designer fashion market, where "label-victims" are travelling to even from Milan, Bologna and Florence.
Beach life is special here: vibrant in August, relaxed and easy going in May, June, July and September.
The private "bagni" are offering umbrellas, gazebos or tents, sunbeds, deckchairs, loungers, beach towels, showers and powder rooms.
Restaurants at the sandy beaches are serving a light lunch or an opulent gourmet dinner at night.
Life quality and romance at its best!
Beach life is expensive, indeed, a bit snobby, but it´s worth the money. You´re apart from the crowd. And it has got what it takes....
And when you`ll lift your head a bit from your sunbed you will see the beautiful montain range of the Apuan Alps, upto 2.100 m in altitude, sometimes snowcapped while you´re getting a good tan, zipping your sprizz or your prosecco.
For lovers of history, architecture and art - there is a neverending program and the choice from all below is yours:
- Art galleries, expositions and cultural events in Pietrasanta, Lucca and Florence
- Architecture in Lucca, Pisa, Florence - all of the towns and cities have their special "centro storico"
- Classical and Jazz music events in Seravezza, Pietrasanta and Lucca
- Antiques markets in Lucca and Sarzana
- Domes and churches allover the region
- Museums in Lucca and Florence
For sports enthusiasts there are the beaches and the marinas closeby with all kind of watersport activities, there are the hills for hikers and mountaibikers, there are the Alps for those who are always looking for a challenge, there is a beautiful golf course close to Forte dei Marmi with an elegant club house and English Pros.
For those without sport and cultural ambitions: rent a Vespa for a countryside tour or stroll on the city wall around Lucca.
Enjoy sunsets at the Pontile in Lido di Camaiore while taking your aperitivo there.
Take a cappuccino at Bar Principe in Forte dei Marmi and watch people passing by.
Last but not least - the gourmets: There´s a simple rule: eat fish at the beaches - eat meat in the mountains. The variety of the Tuscan kitchen spreads from the star-cuisine at Lorenzo in Forte dei Marmi upto the rural Osteria Norcineria Barsanti in the mountains of Cardoso where a grilled bistecca and the salami platters will water your mouth.
Forte dei Marmi, Pietrasanta and Camaiore aren´t places where restaurants are closing at the end of the season in august and social life is almost dead like in the major parts of Tuscany. What would you do in places like San Gimignano or Volterra at the end of august? No restaurant is open, no bar, not even a grocery store...
The Versilia coast instead is different: cultural an social life is thriving in places like Forte and Pietrasanta all year round .
Enjoy your holidays here even in May and October without being cut off from any civilisation. And how we have listed above there is a lot of things to do.
The owner of Villa Montebello offers you any assistance in planning your idea of perfect holidays, starting with an own restaurant guide and making lunch and dinner reservations for you upon request.

"Beautiful mountain villa"
Villa Montebello looked nice in the pictures, but it was even nicer when we got there. The old farmhouse turned into a well-equipped modern villa and was stylish and beautiful. The place felt nicely p… More
