Enjoy an authentic experience, wonderful food and local specialities, wine from the region, and excellent olive oil from the neighbouring farm.
Discover the Art and architecture of the surrounding towns. You can visit, Orvieto, Amelia, Todi, Deruta, Spoleto, Assissi, and many more. Discover the local festivals in medieval streets, or take picnics up into the hills and relish the stunning vistas. May, June and September are the biggest festival times. Don't miss the horses' race for the rings, food and crafts festivals that take place all spring and into summer.
Calvi di Umbria is a 45 minutes drive from Rome and 80 kilometres from Perugia. The area was inhabited in Roman times, but only developed as an urban centre in the High Middle Ages. Calvi was a fiefdom of the Orsini and then of the Anguillara families. The main attractions are the church of Santa Maria, with an elegant Late Renaissance baptisal font, and the church of Sant'Antonio. In the neighbourhood are the remains of a convent erected by St. Francis in the early 13th century.
There are a wealth of towns to visit nearby including Narni (inspiration for the Narnia series), Terni, Amelia, Orvieto, Perugia, Asissi, Todi, and so many more. For nature and sports lovers, there are walks, trekking, trails offering numerous excursions, as well as descents to caves, mountain biking, canoeing and rafting.
