Poplar cottage is a 200 year old cottage full of character. It is situated in Calstock in the heart of the Tamar Valley, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The cottage is well equipped and cosy with a wood burning stove. It is ideally situated to explore the many attractions of Devon and Cornwall. Catch the train across the historic viaduct to Plymouth. Boat trips available in the summer season to Plymouth and Morwellham Quay. Lovely riverside and woodland walks direct from the door. Walk to Cotehele National Trust property and treat yourselves to a cream tea on the way back. Lots of local pubs serving excellent food. Shop and Post Office 2 minutes walk from the cottage. 2 pubs in the village, both serving good food.

The West Country / Cornwall region
Cornwall is a popular holiday destination owing to its mild climate, beautiful scenery and dramatic coastline. The Tamar Valley has been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It was originally a mining area especially for copper and the remains of the mine buildings can be seen throughout the region. There are lots of National Trust properties and gardens to visit and for the children there are farms, amusement parks a donkey and monkey sanctuary.
Calstock area
Calstock is a village on the Tamar river so canoeing, sailing and boat trips are available. It is on the Tamar Valley Discovery walking Trail. Local attractions include Morwellham Quay - a recreated Victorian Mining village, a donkey sanctuary, Launceston Castle and Steam railway and Cotehele House, a National Trust Property. Calstock has an annual bike and music festival and a regatta. The local social club is very active arranging live music nights and theatre productions.

Further details indoors: The twin room contains a guest bed so can be set up as 3 singles or a kingsize bed. The bathroom and WC are separate The bathroom has a bath and separate shower cubicle with an electric shower The log fire is a multi fuel wood burning stove
Further details outdoors: Large free car park a few minutes walk away. Space outside to park and unload a car. No garden but cottage is in a pedestrian street and we have a bench outside where you can sit and enjoy a glass of wine. The Quay with riverside walks and a large playing field is only a few minutes walk.

£50 supplement charged for a fifth guest. All prices quoted are for 4 guests. No smoking indoors Pets allowed but not permitted upstairs or on the furniture.
Conditions
The cottage is on three levels so the twin bedroom is on the top floor and may not therefore be suitable for toddlers.
