About the home

Our apartment is located in Pueblo Casanova, a lovely quiet complex with mountain views, just a short walk from the town centre and beaches of Calpe.  Situated on the ground floor, our apartment is well furnished and spacious.  The living/dining room leads out onto a large south-west facing terrace which is furnished with table, chairs and sunbeds and has a partial view of the mountain. The kitchen has everything you need including microwave, oven/hob, washing machine, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.  The apartment has a 32" flat screen TV with satellite providing ITV and BBC, a  DVD player and an ipod docking station/radio, there is also a large selection of DVDS's, books, indoor and outdoor games such as quoits, boules, bats and balls etc.

The living room has a side door which takes you out onto a small terrace which has seating, steps then lead down to the large terrace where you'll find the usual outdoor furniture.  There is a single sofabed in the living room, although able to sleep an adult , this is more suited to an additional child. Both bedrooms have air conditioning/warm air heating and ceiling fans, they have fitted wardrobes with plenty of storage space.  Duvets and blankets are provided for the cooler months. The bathroom has a full size bath with shower and also has a hairdryer. A cot and highchair can be provided at a small extra charge.

Further details outdoors:
The apartment has one step up to the front door and several steps down from the small terrace at the rear to a larger terrace furnished with sunbeds, table, chairs and parasols  A barbecue is also provided. A car parking space is available adjacent to the apartment.  This small complex is secure with a resident care-taker and is situated a short distance from Calpe town centre.  The complex comprises of low-rise (two storey) buildings each housing four apartments.  There is a beautiful communal swimming pool with a shallow children's area, surrounded by terraces, planted areas and has a lovely view of the mountain.  Although in a quiet area, a fifteen to twenty minute walk takes you to the centre of town with it's lively bars, interesting shops and beautiful beaches.

Living Room

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region

The Costa Blanca is a very poplular holiday destination for many nationalities. It offers miles of beautiful beaches, breathtaking mountain scenery, traditional Spanish towns, fiestas and many interesting places to see.

Visit Moraira with its lovely sandy beaches and popular street market (lining the streets every evening during the summer months) or the old town of Altea with it's cobbled streets, white-washed buildings and numerous restaurants.

A twenty minute drive takes you to Benidorm where you'll find Aqualandia, a great waterpark for all ages and Mundamar, a wild life park. Terramitica theme park can also be found a short distance from Benidorm.

Drive inland to Guadelest, a fortress perched high on a craggy rock. This was an important military stronghold and is the site of several ancient castles, the remains can still be seen today. The castle village has lots of craft and souvenir shops, cafés and museums. You can take a tour around the inside of the castle.

The Fonts del Algar (water falls) in Callosa d'en Sarria makes a lovely day out, you can swim and the more adventurous can jump into the water from the rocks; due to steps and narrow areas this wouldn't be suitable for the very young or those with mobility problems.

Water sports, golf courses and a lively nightlife, together with an ideal climate make Calpe a perfect holiday location for all ages.

The Calpe / Casa Nova area

Calpe, a former fishing village, is 60 kilometres north of Alicante, the town is lively and has two beautiful blue flag beaches and many other coves suitable for swimming or diving .

The old town of Calpe is particularly picturesque with its narrow streets, museums and squares with restaurants and cafes. A craft market is held here in the evenings.

Calpe residents are friendly and welcoming and the town has a nice mixture of traditional Spain and a modern holiday resort.

There are numerous beachside bars offering good food and many bars in the town have live entertainment. Visit the port on a Sunday morning to sample the range of dishes offered at the fish restaurants.

During the summer months, jet skis, pedaloes and water ski-ing is available in Calpe, Just outside the town there is a sailing club offering sailing and windsurfing courses, beautifully positioned with a bar and restaurant overlooking the sea.

Calpe is famous for it's rock 'Penon de Ifach' which rises 330 metres from the sea. The area is now a nature park and the summit can be reached via a pathway tunnelled through the rock. Great views from the top.

The traditional Valencian festival of Saint Joseph the carpenter (FALLAS) is held in March, usually between 12th and 20th. Originally a contest amongst carpenters to create an effigy of the Saint, it has now become a spectacular fiesta with districts competing for the prize for the best monument. The festivities in Calpe include processions, street entertainment, fireworks and live music. The largest fiesta of this kind is held in Valencia, at the end of which a winner is chosen and the other entries are burnt. This is a fiesta you will never forget.

The MOORS AND CHRISTIANS FESTIVAL takes place in October, visit the comutat-valenciana website for dates. This is one of Calpe's best festivals with family activities in the town each day, hours of processions and midnight firework displays. See the photographs taken last year.

Calpe is an ideal location for a winter break, the weather is still warm in November and the town is much quieter than in the summer months allowing for a more relaxed stay.
