Accommodation: The principle living area is open plan and all on one level. The living room and both bedrooms have air conditioning. Both bedrooms, and the naya (second sitting room/reading room) also have electric ceiling fans.
The sitting room, with beamed ceiling and wood burning fire, has a flat screen colour TV that receives some UK broadcasts via a satellite service, and a DVD player. (We have a selection of DVDs, books, and some board games.) Dock/speakers for your own iPod. Free WiFi.
The traditional Castillian style dining table seats 4 in comfort. French windows from the dining area lead to a second small sitting room with big windows which make the most of the lovely views ~ a perfect place to watch the sun set over the Sierras or to relax with a good book.
Our well equipped American style kitchen has fitted pine cupboards with granite worktops and every convenience ~ dishwasher, fridge/freezer, modern electric oven, gas hob, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, coffee machine, juicer and much more!
There are 2 bedrooms: one has two single beds and views over the gardens. The other has a comfortable, large double bed with views over the pool and gardens to the mountains beyond.
Both rooms have fitted wardrobes, ceiling fans and air conditioning. Hairdryer provided in each bedroom.
The recently refitted bathroom, adjacent to the bedrooms, has a modern white suite with bath, shower over the bath, sink and toilet.
Further details outdoors:

There are lots of places to sit and enjoy the day; A small table and chairs set beneath our old pine tree provides a great spot for drinking coffee, whilst watching the birds hop around the branches.
The upper terrace - accessed from the main living area - is also furnished with a small table and chairs and is the perfect place for breakfast or to watch the sun set over a cool drink.
Poolside, there is a 'built in' barbecue next to a thatched wooden gazebo which has a table and four comfortable chairs for outside dining.
Further comfortable seating is available in the open naya - the ideal spot to relax out of the high season sun or to watch the sun slip behind the mountains at the end of the day. For your added convenience, the small summer kitchen is equipped with a drinks fridge and a supply of melamine crockery and plastic glasses for poolside use.
For sun-worshippers, the south east facing pool terrace is furnished with 4 sunloungers.
If you have access to Google Earth, our house is at Latitude 38°40'25.95"N and Longitude 0° 3'16.20"E. This wll give you a good feel for the exterior layout, position of the pool and so on.
Further details
The house was built in 1988, is well maintained and traditionally Spanish in appearance. This is our family holiday home, we visit very regularily and you will therefore find this quite unlike typical villa rentals where compromises are often made on quality of furnishings/linens/general fittings. We welcome couples and families looking for a relaxing and comfortable place to stay and who will appreciate and respect the standard of this house.
Within the villa you will find a comprehensive file of information about the villa, local shops, bars and resaturants, and details of various leisure activities. We encourage all our guests to add their own comments (and new discoveries), giving an unbiased user guide to what to do and where to go.
Conditions
Changeover day is flexible outside of the main summer periods, but please contact us to discuss. Please note that we have to insist on arrival at the villa after 3pm, and departure by 10am to allow time for cleaning and laundry change.
We do require a £250 deposit against accidental damage and breakages - fully refundable assuming no damage or breakages. I'm afraid we don't accept pets nor do we accept single sex groups. All bookings subject to our terms and conditions which are available on enquiry.
Please note: we consider the villa to be ideally suited for families wishing to relax and cater for themselves in the sun, but please be aware that the pool area is not separated from the terraces and so young children will need to be carefully supervised when enjoying the outdoor space.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
Calpe is on the south east coast of Spain, 70 kilometres north of the principle city and main airport of Alicante. The local area offers a stunning coastline as well as verdant valleys and towering mountain ranges. The Jalon valley, just 20 minutes drive from Calpe, is renowned for it's wines and there is a wealth of traditional villages and towns to explore inland. The wonderful regional capital city of Valencia, home to the 2007 Americas Cup, is just 90 minutes drive away. Full of character with a magnificent church, pleasant plazas, bull ring and some of the best shopping in the region. A must see there is the newly built science and arts complex with the modern Aquarium ~ now the largest in Europe.
Terra Mitica, one of Europes' largest theme parks is just 30 minutes drive away and offers an excellent day out for all the family. Also near by, Terra Natura http://www.terranatura.com a new themed animal park.
The Calpe area
Our villa is situated in a mature, residential area just on the outskirts of Calpe. All the homes here are built on spacious plots with well established trees and gardens which provide not only pleasant surroundings but also offer each home plenty of outside space and relative privacy from it's neighbours.
Calpe has a good selection of shops, supermarkets (including Aldi and Lidl), bars and restaurants to cater for every taste. All within easy reach of the villa. (Most of the large supermarkets stock comprehensive ranges of british brands, making self catering an easy and enjoyable option, especially if you have young children.)
Calpe also has three 'blue flag' award beaches ~ ideal for children and offering a great selection of watersports in high season. Try the small rocky cove of Les Bassettes for windsurfing, kayaking and catamaran sailing. Scuba diving and instruction, from english speaking staff, also available. In addition to the wonderful coast, visitors to this area enjoy easy access to beautiful countryside, with magnificent walking, golf and horse riding all available within a few miles of the villa. Families are well catered for with tennis at the local Tennis Club (clay courts about 5 minutes drive away with English speaking tuition) .
Calpe old town is full of traditional character with narrow, steep streets and local houses proudly decorated with pots of tumbling, colourful geraniums and bougainvillea . Summer evenings are spent enjoying tapas in the central plaza, watching the swallows diving along the narrow streets. if you are lucky enough to be visiting during one of our fiestas, you'll find no better a spot to absorb the local atmosphere than at Bar Calpe on Plaza Espana in the centre of the old town.

Stayed Sept2012 for 2 weeks with wife. Villa was clean and well kept, with furniture/fixtures and fittings all good quality and better than expected for a holiday rental. Good location on outskirts... more |

Can't speak too highly of this villa. Perfect place to chill out with magnificent views of the mountain ranges in the distance from the luxury of sitting on the terrace with a glass or three of wine. A car is a must because of its location but it's only 15 minutes into Calpe if you want to experience the restaurants etc. The pool is good although the BBQ needed a good clean before we used it, but that could be the result of the previous guests not cleaning it after use. The place on arrival is like Fort Knox but once inside it is splendid and more than one would normally expect in a holiday villa. Highly recommended. Enjoy! Neil R |
