Home description
Our beautiful newly renovated villa is set in a quiet location with mature gardens filled with vibrantly coloured plants, flowers and citrus trees providing an ideal environment for any holiday. There is off road, gated parking.
The spacious villa consists of two self contained apartments. It is perfect for families and friends who enjoy holidaying together whilst maintaining a degree of privacy.
The upstairs apartment has 2 double/twin bedrooms with ceiling fans (the main bedroom has a king size bed), large newly fitted bathroom with bath and shower, living/dining room with a wood burning fire, fully fitted brand new kitchen with new appliances, and a large Naya (sun porch) with a table and chairs for outside dining. The Naya and front room both enjoy lovely views of the sea and Penon.
The downstairs apartment has its own private access and consists of 2 double/twin bedrooms, brand new fitted kitchen, newly fitted bathroom with bath and shower and spacious living/dining room with sofa bed. This apartment can accommodate either 4 or 6 people.
The large private pool is situated to the rear of the property, and has roman steps for easy access, making it safer for children and non-swimmers. The pool area itself has outdoor lighting and is surrounded by well-established fragrant and colourful plants.
There is also an outdoor (hot/cold) shower. Sun-beds, and parasols are provided. We also keep a number of outdoor games such as bouls, bats, balls and inflatables.
Local hotel Gran Sol is a short two minute walk away and has a restaurant and bar.
Additional facilities can be enjoyed locally. Club Tenis in Calpe town offers tuition (in English) on clay courts and Club Nautico offers a wide variety of watersports.
Golf courses can be found in nearby Javea or Moraira. Golf Ifach in Moraira enjoys wonderful views of the Mediterranean and has a round of 9 holes. Javea has a round of 18 holes.
Just thirty minutes drive away is Benidorm, which boasts a bullring and several theme parks: Terra Mitica (themes on mystical civilisations from the Mediterranean region), Mundomar (exotic and marine animals) and Aqualandia water park. Being a cosmopolitan town, Benidorm offers the most varied entertainment. At night, the many nightspots provide something for every taste. The atmosphere of the Old Town is charming with winding streets of houses with the traditional Algerian-style grilles.

The Costa Blanca / Valencia / Alicante Province region
A charming and peaceful site is that occupied by the 18th century Parish Church of San Jaime, which houses the beloved statue of Our Lady of Suffrage, patron saint of Benidorm.
In addition to the theme parks, one of our favourite places to visit is the Algar waterfall. This is a picturesque spot, one of the most surprising in the whole province, being so incredibly green and rich in water. The crystal-clear, pure waters crash against the rocks and you can bathe under the 25 metre high waterfall, or in one of the deep pools to be found in the area. Also, driving through the Sierra de Aitana mountains, you can visit the Castle at Guadalest, built in the mid-13th century by the Moors. From this fortress there are the most spectacular views extending from the Aitana and Bernia mountain ranges to Mount Serrella further down, and, on the edge of the horizon, the smooth surface of the Mediterranean. At the heart of the Costa Blanca, within the region of Valencia lies an ancient fishing village, now a tourist magnet by the name of Calpe. They call it "La California de Europa".
Calpe is in an ideal location, easily accessed by the A7 motorway and the N332 that runs from Valencia to Alicante. The spectacular Rock of Ifach, the symbol of the Costa Blanca, now a nature reserve, soars 322m high and dramatically divides Calpe's two famous beaches and the bustling fishing port. The summit of the rock is reached by means of a tunnel through the rock. From here, magnificent panoramic views can be had. On a clear day, the island of Ibiza is visible.
Calpe's history is one of a strategic point & an ancient fishing village. Many peoples have lived here throughout history; ancient Iberian hill tribes, Romans, Christians & Moors. All undertook fishing activities here & the Romans even built a salt works at the base of the Penon de Ifach rock, & undertook the sale/export of salted fish to travellers & nearby provinces.
Christians & Moors later lived together in relative peace for a time. However evidence has been found of measures taken to fortify the town scourged between the 14th & 17th centuries by Barbary pirates. The remains of this Moorish castle can be found to this day overlooking the Mascarat ravine. In fact many reminders of past times still exist in the old quarter, from murals, to monuments & museums.
Calpe has conserved much if its inherited historical buildings & monuments. The former town walls, old church & monuments are the last example of Mudejar-Gothic architecture in the Valencian region. Roman presence has also been preserved by way of an ancient fish factory & villa.
The older part of the town is ever more popular. With its scenic narrow streets, museums & typical Spanish squares lined with all manner of cafes, bars & eateries. It is a wonderful example of a mixture of old Valencian culture and modern tourist trappings, existing in perfect harmony. The town centre is also home to the Museum of Archeology and the Fiestas Museum
Calpe beaches are sandy & of high quality. The 2 main spots are the Playa Arenal & Cantal Roig beaches, although La Fossa & the bay of Gasparet also belong to the town.
Calpe has a wonderful modern marina that sits alongside the old fishing port. From here it is possible to take boat rides around the rock and to the nearby resort of Benidorm.
The port has a nautical club and facilities for yachting, windsurfing and water skiing. If its dry-land sports you want then the rock of Ifach offers climbing facilities. One of the best ways to glimps the local coastline is by means of the narrow guage railway that runs from Alicante to Denia, stopping at Calpe. Calpe has several tourist information centres, all of which are very helpful and will provide you with information about the whole of the region.
Calpe is also well known for its mild climate & enjoys sunshine for in excess of 320 days per year. The sun is at its hottest during the summer months, with temperatures rarely falling below 30°C (86°F). Winters are typically very mild with averages hovering around 18°C (64°F).
Calpe is within easy driving distance of the largest water park in the region, & one of the largest in the whole of Spain. The Aqualandia Aqua Park Benidorm is a great day out for the whole family; boasting a multitude of slides & chutes, wave pool, lazy river, plus many pools & children's play areas. A good selection of eateries & picnic areas are also present; serving traditional Spanish fare alongside the usual fast food alternatives (hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza etc).
Located on the outskirts of Benidorm, Aqualandia is best reached via the N-332 coastal road ( Journey time from Calpe takes an average of 20-25 minutes.
Calpe is also a short hop away from one the largest theme parks in Spain; Terra Mitica (a Paramount Park) is just 20-25 minutes drive away. There are plenty of rides, it makes this a great day out for all the family.
Terra Mitica is broken up into 4 themed areas, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Ancient Egypt, & of Course Ancient Spain. There are many rides large & small, including a fantastic wooden roller coaster, & high speed steel roller coasters. There is plenty of car parking space, restaurants, bars etc. Take your camera, for the plentiful photo opportunities as you tour the ancient world.
Open from the end of March through to end of September, plus peak times in October, November & December.

Calpe Festivals (Fiestas):
The Spanish are famous for their festivals (fiestas), & the town of Calpe has its fair share. There are many fiestas throughout the year, some larger than others. Most are a colourful & vibrant affair, lasting well into the evening & night; some last quite a few days.
Many of the festivals in Calpe correspond to particular periods in the town's history. Here we list some of the more popular (& typically the larger) fiestas to look out for:-
Calpe's festivities kick off with the arrival of the Carnival in February. Marching bands from all over Spain & Europe join together in the town.
March 19th is home to the feast of St. Joseph. Festivities start with a procession winding its way through the streets of the old town, followed by a giant paella in the town square. At midnight effigies of wood & cardboard are burnt to celebrate the beginning of spring, toasted with customary sardines & sangria.
June 24th is host to a midsummer's festival, quickly followed on August 5th by the celebration of Calpe's patron saint La Virgen de las Nieves. There are processions, fireworks, & outdoor parties with lots of food & drink.
On the 21st-24th October the people of Calpe celebrate their patron saint Santisimo Cristo del Sudor, & the Moros y Christianos (Muslims & Christians) fiesta at the same time. The Muslims & Christians fiesta commemorates the expulsion of the Moors from Calpe. It is said that Santisimo Cristo del Sudor helped protect the village as the Moors tried to enter. Therefore 2 battles are re-enacted along the beaches & in a mock castle. In addition many locals celebrate the festivity by way of donning often elaborate costumes & parading through the town streets. As usual there is plenty of food & drink to be had, & fireworks crown the event.
