There is a choice of sandy beaches only 2 minutes' walk away.

The Valenciana region

Calpe is situated between Valencia and Alicante on the Costa Blanca (White Coast), an area rich in history and famed for its scenery, temperate climate and the quality of its beaches. It remains generally unspoilt with beautiful fertile valleys, pretty fishing villages and historic towns. There are 13 km of coastline with beaches and coves, ideal for bathing and sports. Many of the beaches have won blue flag awards for cleanliness.

Temperature and hours of sunshine are mean averages, comments are purely personal and whilst prolonged periods of rainfall are unlikely, short heavy Mediterranean cloud-bursts do occasionally occur, but being Spain the sun will

always shine through.

About 500m from the Penon are the Salt Flats, a nature spot which gives home to a wide variety of flamingos and other migrating birds at certain times of the year. Its name comes from the fact that they used to be the old salt works.

=== Places to go ===

Guadalest:

An old fortified town famous for lace and well worth a visit. Built by the Moors some 1200 years ago, it was never conquered.

The castle is perched on a craggy mountain outcrop and although much of the village was destroyed by an earthquake the steep climb to the castle is rewarded with breathtaking views.

Fuentes de Algar:

For a small charge you can enter the landscaped gardens and picnic areas alongside the waterfall and lagoons of the Algar river where you can swim in the cool waters on a hot day.

Terra Mitica (nr. Benidorm):

This new theme park is a fun day out. It is the first true theme park in Spain and is designed to reflect the history of the Mediterranean with 5 subdivisions each representing a different lost civilisation, the myths and legends inspiring the roller coaster rides, animatronix and state of the art digital imagery

Aqualandia (nr. Benidorm):

Europe’s largest water park.

Calpe

Calpe itself is an ancient fishing village, dominated by a rocky outcrop, the Penon d’Ifach, which rises from the sea and towers over the fishing harbour and town. At 332m high it is a symbol of the Costa Blanca and in 1987 was declared a Nature Reserve because of its rich wildlife. If you are feeling fit you can climb to the top via a footpath which starts from the Nature Hall, the information centre. Hemingway loved Calpe town and spent his summers there during the thirties.

=== Restaurants and bars ===

Within 2 - 15 minutes walking distance there are a variety of restaurants catering for every need at exceptionally attractive prices. For example, a main course of succulent lamb on the bone with starter and dessert courses, and including wine and bread, would set you back the princely sum of around £10 per person.

In Calpe town, there are typically noisy Spanish bars full of local atmostphere where you can eat delicious lunchtime tapas snacks.

=== Shops and Markets ===

Calpe has numerous shops selling everything from perfume to furniture, as well as grocery / bakers shops.

There are also two large supermarkets on the outskirts of town and multi- national hypermarkets a short drive away where you can buy the same brand goods as if you were back home. In the season most supermarkets are open on Sunday mornings, usually between 10.00 and 13.00 hours, which is useful for those arriving late on Saturday. There is a Saturday morning market every week throughout the year in the old town.

=== Fiestas ==

Numerous festivals take place throughout the year, the most famous being that of the Moors and Christians, a summer celebration of colourful swaying processions recalling the famous fight for sovereignty.

Fiestas are part of life in Spain and throughout the year there is one going on somewhere, usually culminating in a huge firework display.

=== Sports Facilities ===

Within driving distance there are 9 and 18 hole golf courses, tennis and squash courts,

diving centres, go-karts and many other facilities.

"A perfect relaxing holiday in a fabulous apartment."

Fabulous apartment with views overlooking the harbour, great location, good beaches and restaurants, in fact everthingy for a perfect relaxing holiday. Can't wait for our next holiday there, which we have already booked. Sarah, Ann & Marie

"Had to hand back keys...."

If you are looking for a quiet stunning apartment with a great view this is for you. After arriving late at night we could not see the full benifit that the apartment had to offer.. parking the car in the secure allocated space then entering the very clean and quiet apartment block felt just right. The following day when we got up what a surprise the view from the living room was just stunning. The apartment itself is well equipped with everything you could need, the two large supermarkets are 10-15 minutes walk away so there is definetly no need for a car once you arrive at Calpe, plenty of bars and resturants within easy walking distance, but you also have the glazed balcony which easily opens up if required and provides the perfect place for having dinner, a glass or two of wine or just relaxing watching the boats come and go in the marina. Without a doubt one of the best places we have stayed in, I just wish I could take my super-king size bed and not have to " HAND THE KEYS BACK". Hope to return sooner rather than later.

A gorgeous apartment with great views of the Harbour from a roomy glassed in balcony. We go every year in March and September and occasionally at Christmas. Local buses and trains to get about

"Can't wait to go Back!!!!"

We stayed in this apartment during October half-term, 2012. Our family had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back. The apartment is in a great position for beaches and restaurants on both Calpe and Levante sides. It makes it so easy to be able to walk to Levante beach and not worry about parking. The apartment is very modern and clean with the most fabulous aspect. The owners were very freindly and professional to deal with. They provided us with lots of helpful tips during our stay and answered all our enquiries promptly and with kind consideration. I would highly recommend this apartment to any family or couple at any time of year you will have a great time.
