The Penon de Ifach Natural Park nature reserve. With a protected surface area of just 45 hectares. Rising to 332 metres high, the Peñón de Ifach is Calpe's most recognised landmark. The rock is home to a diverse colony of flora and fauna, including some rare and endangered species. Hiking and climbing are popular past-times.
The Calpe fish market is home to the famous daily fish auction. The fresh, daily catch is auctioned from Monday to Friday, 17:00 until 20:00. There is a large viewers section and you can, of course, purchase plenty of fresh fish.
Las Salinas Natural Park is located close to the Natural Park of Penon de Ifach. The salt water lagoon is an important protected area for birds. More than 170 different species have been spotted. The most popular of which, are the flamingos (Phoenicopterus ruber) which can number in the hundreds.
The Queen's baths - Los Baños de la Reina - are an important archaeological site that sits next to the promenade in Calpe. The remains of a Roman fish salting factory are well preserved that date from the II Century. The Romans used the factory to salt and preserve fish. The most valuable product, a kind of fish paste known as "Garum" was exported throughout the Roman Empire.

About this location
The Valenciana region
Spain holidays are all about sun, sea, sand and culture? Well, that's what you'll find in the charming Mediterranean resort of Calpe, in the north of the sapphire shores of the Costa Blanca. This is one of the region's most distinctive areas, with golden beaches situated between the huge Rock of Ifach on the shoreline and the majestic Sierra Bernia mountains rising behind. Calpe boasts all the usual mod cons you'd expect from your Costa Blanca holidays, bars, hotels, gorgeous beaches with the added treat of being home to more ruins and museums than anywhere else on the White Coast.
There's no shortage of things to do in Calpe. Check out the Roman salting factory on the beach, and at the Ifach Rock you'll come across the Natural Park with it's protected flora and fauna. The Old Town houses two churches, the gothic Old Church dating from the 1400s, no less! Turn around, and you're already at the Archaeological Museum, housing Iberian relics. For the kids, a trip into nearby Benidorm might be in order for waterslides at Aqualandia or forages through the huge Terra Mitica Theme Park.
Calpe has miles of golden beaches, affording you ample opportunity for swimming, surfing, or sunbathing. The huge Gibraltar-esque Ifach Rock is the most distinguishing landmark here, and you can scale this monolith through an inner tunnel for some of the most spectacular coastal views in the Costa Blanca. The more peripatetic can traverse the grassy Sierra Bernia hills for sunset picnics amongst the pines.
Calpe offers an extraordinarily varied nightlife, with jazz bars adjacent to English pubs and beach shacks in nearby Javea. Whatever you're tastes, from football to folk music, Calpe has it all! Remember, you're only 15 minutes outside Benidorm if you feel like an all-night karaoke or clubbing session, and only 2 minutes away from the beaches if you just want to sit, sip a Margarita and chill out while the sun sets over the Mediterranean!
Calpe's summer fiestas, San Juan on 24th June, Virgen del Carmen on 16th July and August's feast of Virgen de las Nieves, are all replete with fireworks and fun on the streets! Don't worry if you miss these on your holidays to Calpe, there are plenty of fiestas here all year round, and the Saturday Flea Market sells more exotic wares than you've ever seen. While you're out and about, sample some of the many paellas in the restaurants, and Calpe's very own peppered fish stew, Llauna de Calpe. Magnifico!
Beaches are Calpe's main attraction. It is not hard to understand why. Calpe is blessed with some fantastic beaches, from extensive fine, golden sandy ones to almost hidden, pebble coves - whatever your preference, you are sure to find it in Calpe.

"Excellent location and property for your Calpe stay"
We rented this apartment with my husband and another couple for the week of a friend's wedding. The apartment is in a great location. Complex is wonderful with 3 swimming pools. The place was cute and clean. Brand new flat screen TV and Air con is a bonus. Galina was an excellent host, with lots of restaurant recommendations, information and all sorts of tips. We had a great time.

"Like a good ship, spoiled by a bit a bit of missing tar."
Know area well, lived nearby for 14 years.Only 1 set of keys for 4 of us,despite there being 3 locked doors to get through.2 of the 4 patio chairs were broken on arrival.3 when my son in law sat on on… More
Upon each arrival/departure the inventory check in/out is performed and so was the case here. chairs were NOT broken upon arrival of this group and despite them being broken during their stay nothing was subtracted from their security deposit. Very disappointed to receive such feedback despite being a nice host and taking the cost of replacing the chairs myself.

"Great stay - will be back"
I stayed at Galina's apartment in April 2014. She was extremely helpful and friendly and responded to all my questions very quickly. Galina was very efficient throughout the booking process right up until my departure. The property was clean with all the essential amenities plus clean towels and bedding were also provided. It was easy to make the flat feel homely for the duration of our stay. The location of the property is perfect. Beautiful Calpe beaches at your door step. Variety of restaurants and cafes with great food is just around the corner and supermarkets are close by as well. I will definitely stay at this property when I visit Calpe in the future.
