The Costa Brava/Catalonia region
The Costa Brava is a 160-kilometre stretch of beautiful, rugged coastline in the region of Catalonia in the north east corner of Spain. Its natural beauty, endless miles of sandy beaches and summer sunshine make it an obvious choice for holidaymakers. You'll find modern, international tourist resorts with high-rise hotels alongside unspoilt fishing villages, sheltered rocky coves and medieval towns with ancient castles. The Costa stretches from Blanes, north of Barcelona, to Roses near the French border.
Calonge area
There are four tennis clubs within close proximity. There are also eight golf courses, some of international renown. Two 3 par, eighteen hole courses very close by. There is also a sports facility with large swimming pools, restaurants, tennis and football facilities at Vizcondado de Cabaynes. Many footpaths cut through the surrounding forest and hillside. The area seems to be a magnet for the Tour de France look-alikes in the beautiful mountain roads that lead to Romanya and beyond. Many wonderful beaches, rocky coves. The area is famous for it's scuba diving and snorkelling. Clear blue waters and activities for both young and old.
There are so many wonderful restaurants with fresh fish caught that day at very accessible prices. Many of the restaurants serve local Catalan specialities. A multitude of bars from the highly sophisticated to the local fisherman's tavern. The nightlife at both Palamos and Playa d' aro starts at midnight until dawn with enough nightclubs to cater for all tastes.
